| Yesterday I added a new page for a new keyword on my authority site, it has 2 internal backlinks, none external. Today it's indexed in the 18th position on google (out of over 350,000 pages) several spots above a site with an exact match domain. |

There are literally hundreds of factors to determine rankings but the more content a website has, the better the results than if it had less content. (notice i'm not comparing it to a different site with less content - because sooo many different factors would be involved). New pages could also experience the G-dance, it might move around a bit before settling down. Google hasn't been putting too much weight on EMDs after the Mayday blitz anyway..

So the moral of the story for newbies is this: You know that old domain you've had kicking around for the last few years but never did anything with? Start adding content to it and stop spending money on more domains!

Yeah that's a good point. I have a couple of PR2 domains that are kind of just sitting around. I'm not a newbie but I always have the tendancy to start fresh. This makes the SEO that much more difficult :P |

How about wikipedia? I've never seen anyone preach against authority, at least someone who is worth their salt. I must have missed it. I myself regularly preach about internal linking. Some of the best links you can have. I think there has to be a defined difference between mega-site and authority site. You can have a mega-site that sucks, a mini-site that rocks. Authority is not based on number of pages, although it may be tougher with a smaller site. gasbuddy.com is not really a mega-site. Paul |

Lol, that video I posted in your link "Mega Desk", I love "The Office", I could watch that all day (notice my Sig)! ![]() Anyways... I'm with you 100% on building the larger site, It's just more interesting to me. Most of my sites are built because I really enjoy the subject. I admit I have a few smaller sites, they are boring simply because the subject was boring. How can a person create interesting content for a toaster (not my site, lol)? Once a large site is setup, it's way less work. I said this same thing in your other thread (link above), & apparently some members are baffled by how this could be. I got tired of repeating myself, is the only reason I stopped posting on that thread. Larger sites do tend to get indexed fast (my sites do). The internal linking like Paul said, is only a plus for any site large or small.

I can't fathom that concept . I tried one site that I had no interest in. Wrote 5 articles and ignored the bloody thing. It's now an orphan. Makes a few bucks, but an orphan. More and more, our secrets are getting out. Paul
