Reduced adwords traffic after pausing & restarting

Hi Guys,

I'm normally pretty good with adwords as I've been using it for years but I've encountered a new problem.

I recently paused 3 campaigns for a week whilst I made some big changes to my sites back end, but after restarting the same campains I'm now getting much less traffic in terms of clicks and also much less impressions.

Here's the difference

daily camp 1) clicks 117 / imps 5103 ---- Now clicks 77 / imps 3110
daily camp 2) clicks 54 / imps 3907 ---- Now clicks 34 / imps 3138
daily camp 3) clicks 1365 / imps 199658 ---- Now clicks 80 / imps 41609

Camps 1&2 are search only & camp 3 is network only.

Does it take time for google to restart my ads, it's been a few days since I turned them back on.

Any help appreciated.

Lee as a guess (and i may be wrong) with your 1 and 2 ad spots / check your average position and see if that has dropped / do an overall search by ave position then bring it into the last 7 days or so and see if there has been a shift.

There is a very strong chance that it is to do with it being xmas. A lot of traffic will, reduce in certain areas. A number of my campaigns have seen a massive drop off in traffic over the last week. If you are still having issues a couple of weeks into the New Year then you should start to worry. For now though, it is most likely seasonal.

Update:

My account is returning to normal (at least it appears so), the traffic is growing at about 100% per day so it should be back to normal in a day or two.

Good to hear that your account is returning to normal activity. But here is an advice for next time -

-> Never pause your content network campaigns if you've to temporarily block it. Just reduce your daily budget to may be 10 cent. Google like advertisers who are consistent and rewards them with better ranking in content network.You will also find that once you have paused the content network campaign - it takes much longer time to reach it's normal state.
