XFactor Questions

hi i've been making some xfactor sites and have a few questions so far.

1) backlinking. is solely relying article marketing enough? i've done what john recommends but not really getting the results. have people been able to rank with articles solely or had to add other methods? if so, what methods and what kind of volume?

2) search volume. since his ebook was released goog's keyword tool had changed as you all know and the results are now different and out of date. what is a good local exact match volume to search for for an xfactor site now? 1000? 2000? 500? any experience?

3) how long to hit first page with a micro niche site? assuming the competition research is done correctly how long to hit the first page of goog?

4) Exact match domains. John says if you can't get an exact match domain something like domainnamereview.com would work as well. Is that true any more. is the latter too hard ton rank any more?

1. No, integrate some forum profiles, blog commenting and high PR links from networks or pumper blogs.

2. I wouldn't dare go below 1,000. Even 5,000 sounds a bit skimpy to me nowadays. But 1,000 exact, you could work your butt off for 2 months getting to number one, only to get a measly 15 or 20 visits per day? Get real.

3. No one can answer this accurately without knowing your domain age and the competition of the keyword as well as your overall backlinking strategy. Be a bit more specific or don't expect a good answer.

4. It's true, but it's just one of many factors. Look at all the sites with zero exact match value that rank for tons of stuff like amazon.com or wikipedia.org. If you build authority with good links and relevance with lots of content, you don't need to worry about this much.

First of all, you must understand the 1st book was kinda written in the "best case scenario". Yes, that's right. In reality, if you choose the wrong keyword, you surely have to work a LOT harder. I know this better.

1) It is enough if you can write 5 articles a day pointing to the page. Use more than 5 article directories though.

2) In most cases, the higher the search count (higher earnings), the higher the competition too.

3) Expect to hit 1st page within 2 - 4 weeks, or even longer. A good habit is to wait 1 full month. During that 1 full month, you have to have the SEO mindset; constantly backlinking and adding content regularly without expecting your site to rank tomorrow. In other words, work at your site with blind faith. That's how it works.

4) Non-EMD is definitely harder to rank for ONE keyword. Who knows? Your ONE keyword could be your main keyword. But in the long term, any page will rank for MULTIPLE keywords combinations (check Google Analytics or AWStats). These multiple keywords are responsible for 50 % or more traffic to your site. This is the norm for most sites. However, these multiple keyword combination might not be targeted, thus bringing you less profit. Your main keyword should bring in more AdSense clicks.

The point of doing XFactor sites are to rank for ONE keyword. So, you definitely want to use EMD domains all the time.

In the end, if you do Article Marketing solely, be prepared to write more than 100 - 200 articles a month, especially when you're having MANY sites. One site can potentially require 50 or 100 or even 150 articles pointing to it to rank top 3.

These are based on my experience from diving into AdSense and IM for the 1st time. Been at this for 7 months now. Take what's worth for you.

1) Personally preferably I'd want to do regular SEO which means getting a variety of links from directory submissions to forum profile links. As well as tossing in some authority high pr links and contextual links. You want to make it look natural right now just 50 000 Forum profile links or 2000 Article Marketing links.
2)I personally only work with 5000+ EMD although many have made good profit with 1000 EMD Alone with 10% CTR(several get 20-30% and some get 1-2% depends on your niche and your ad placement and several other aspects) and say 500 visitors from the 1000= 50 clicks @ $1.25 CPC =$25-50/Month! Now multiply that by 5 for 5000 searches
I am also personally working on building a network of EMD Sites The point are these are low maintenence sites so I generally want to get more and generate passive income.
3)Dependings on the SEO Work you do, the niche and various other factors
4)I prefer to keep to EMDs although I've seen many of those get on the first page. It can actually be fairly easy. IT also depending on the niche and as usual other factors When you search a keyword in google you also see the keyword bolded in the domain something to think about so as long as you have the keyword in the domain itself I would think it does add to the benefit but still EMD would be most preferred.

I know I'm going against the herd here.

But this is my experience.

I make sites with heaps of pages like 50-100 pages each.

I do ZERO backlinking....only use EZA and some auto social bookmark site.

Heck most of my search terms get only around 100 searches a month.

I dont care or ever check my rankings.

One of my sites was making $80/month 5 months ago when I last touched it. This month its made $150+! (every month it gets better and better without touching it)


All my time is spent doing productive things that make money fast and almost instant traffic. (Adding articles to my blog and to EZA) instead of doing a bunch of SEO which takes a lot of time.

Juts my 2 cents.

1. It depends a lot on the niche. Some sites may only need minimal backlinking while others will need a lot more. This can't be answered generically.

2. People tend to get hung up on numbers. I've had the most success targeting multiple related long tail terms (one for each page) and not paying so much attention to single keywords. I've also tended to build much larger sites in order to target more terms.

3. This is highly variable. In some cases I've hit the front page and stayed there within a month or so while some sites are 2+ years old and aren't ranking for their primary keyword. This is why I emphasize going after multiple long tails since this tends to build strength and earn more money over time.

4. I've gotten where I prefer partial matches myself, especially ones that lend them self to branding.

If more people did real things to attract real visitors in real time...they would
realize the spillover-google-long-term-effect anyway!

I agree completely with the last comment. Just keep adding quality work to your site and the search engines will take notice.
