Can't say I know another way. If you want to target the audience with no experience, then you may have to look into what sort of person that would be and try and find out where they would hang out.

SEO is the best sustainable way to get traffic. I like to base my sites on sustainable traffic and not just a quick traffic spike that I can't rely on.

For quick traffic spikes, though, I would research using google trends and do a blog post about something that is hot in the news (hopefully the news topic relates to the demographics of people you're trying to sell to).

While SEO and backlinking, etc., provide the best long-term traffic, one of the Fastest FREE ways that I've found to generate traffic is through creative posting to Wikipedia. I posted a detailed post.

PPC is quick, but could cost you money if you don't use it right.

Wikipedia is already ranked for just about every article. I've experimented and the traffic to my site from Wiki articles far outweighed everything else.

I posted some screenshots from my one week experiment.

The online traffic to that blog ramped up tremendously.

The second best traffic source I've found is posting interesting info in forums.

All these are great to generate traffic while you are waiting on the big G to index your site and while you build your backlinks, etc.

But as long as you can neither afford nor do that perfect it is too expensive.

In my opinion you should focus on ways to promote which you LIKE too - e.g. not everyone can / want write good articles regularly.

Thats why you pay $3 for an article :P i'd rather get 30 articles created for 150 bucks, then get 300 clicks, the content will last me a lot longer and will generate a lot more traffic and sales .
