SEO Experts Answer This....(HELP DOMINATE THIS)

So i am getting into a niche an no matter what this is the niche so regardless if SEO is an option or impossible i am doing this niche period.

So now to the question is if there is about 10million results (competition) an google is saying (Competition on there keyword green bar) but there are no domains with the keyword in the domain an all of the first page sites are sites like Zappos.com, or khols.com or Gap.com, sears.com you get the picture big companies that carry these products can i dominate first page top 3 results or is SEO not on option.

Remember none of the sites are niche just to that one product but big companies etc.

Anything is possible with enough seo work.

However, If your trying to dominate a keyword/product name it will take more work.

Example, If you wanted to dominate the keyword craftsman hand tools, then you will have a lot of competition from Sears [dot] com.

Sears already has a lot of history with anything Craftsman related, in the SERPs. We are talking years worth of content + backlinks.

I honestly didn't understand the first post. But as yukon said - anything's possible with the right content and backlinks.

And don't focus so much on the domain name. Google has started to devalue that sort of thing.

Right i am sure theses big companies have put in money for seo but none really are for this niche exactly but they carry this an a million other things so i thought it could be much better for me sense it isn't something like "Loss Fat" or "insurance' sites that are targeted to that niche but just big authority sites that just happen to have these products.

Then get an exact match domain name, and start building high PR links to your pages. It's definately possible to break onto the first page given enough time and effort.

First of all, that number of competitors means NOTHING!

Forget about the 10,000,000 competitors, that fact just doesn't matter.

Now, what you need to do is evaluate the top 10 results.

How well are they optimized for the keyword?

That's a whole course in itself which I won't go into too deeply because there's quite a bit to competition evaluation.

You should use the search feature on the forum and gather yourself up some information.

The first place I would start is running SeoSpyglass, check each of the 10 individual URLs on page #1 in the SERPs.

A lot of guys will say only check the top 3 results in the SERPs (page #1 above the fold), I think that's a bad idea. If it's a high paying/converting keyword then I'll take any position on the first page 1-10 of the SERPs.

Try the SeoSpyglass software to check out your competition, it's Free... & will give you a rough idea what type of competition your dealing with.

I think those companies usually don't do any off-page SEO, they don't need to. Everyone is linking to them (with or without affiliate linking)

Ok first of all I believe you were looking at the ADWORDS comeptition bar in the keyword tool. That is for advertisers not you, it means absolutely nothing about how hard it is to rank for the term. Use an seo tool to assess the top 10 competitors, such as SEOquake or Market Samurai. And almost anything is possible with the perfect backlinks and a lot of them.
