Default Worth Linking Facebook and Sale Site?

I am developing a website for an established professional group with about 200 members. With so many people on Facebook I would like to have newsletters and publications show up on a Facebook fanpage.

Questions:

1. what's the most effective way to do this? The site will be a Wordpress installation and I see there are many facebook plugins.

2. Does it make sense to do this from the point of view of community building?

3. Will it help SEO?

thanks!

According to Danny Sullivan (Search Engine Land) and Matt Cutts (Google), it can have an effect on your SEO.

But I have yet to see that in my testing.

Your number of friends do affect your credibility, and that may be the reason I haven't been able to prove it, since I have barely touched Facebook.

It does make sense in community building. You must expose your site to its intended audience, and that can be done within Facebook.

Facebook fan pages are rumored to be very good for building a community from within Facebook. Given the sources of the rumors, I tend to believe it true.

Regardless, you should strive to get links from as many places as you can get them, because people follow links when they find websites that interest them.

You should always strive to build as many links from as many sources as possible, always.
