SEO friendly headline need to contain the important keyword in a user friendly and in attractive way. For eg : if your main keyword is cool email forwards, you can just give a headline like "Looking for cool email forwards??". It is attractive as well as keyword dominant.

For writing effective seo headlines or titles, one should first select or choose good specific keywords relevant to the content one is choosing to write, putting some of those keywords in the title and making the title in such a way that it would be good and informative and would attract people towards it.

Keep in mind your target keywords and try to use these keywords in 1st paragraph. You can your a keyphrase in you headline and keep it in H1 tags. that will help crawler for indexing your keywords.
