Default Buy Domain with a hyphen? 2 hypens?

Hello warriors, I have been doing research for a site which I planned to buy today, but it seems some snagged the domain name yesterday and built a crappy site on it. The domain has three words in it and I was wondering if I should buy the hyphenated version of the domain or maybe even two hyphens to make my site address more distinct. I can definitely outrank the site with my resources but my main concern is to make sure viewers do not enter my competitors site by accident, so I think the two hyphens would be more distinct. I can;t put links so I put a space for the dot in these examples below to get a better idea of what I mean.

Example - Competitors site buybmw335 com

Example - My site buy-bmw335 com or buy-bmw-335 com

Thanks for the input warriors.

Before considering domain with hypens, are there any other extension available? If so, go for the .org or .net.

I have had good success with hyphens in domains. Its good if you have hyphenated a keyword phrase.

If you aren't looking for return visitors then it doesn't matter.

With that many hyphens its possible to get a lower click through rate from the SE and that people will less likely to remember the site to go back to it.

But you will probably benefit more from ranking higher.

So the question is. Do you want people to return to your site because you are providing daily content or you just want them to come, click on something and make you money?

Hyphens are just fine. There is no danger in any way, shape, or form.

Spend this time actually doing something with the website instead of
domain picking nonsense.

How come nobody ever stresses out on actually putting up quality content,
getting quality links, etc?

Conspiracy theories on domains abound.

It is a review site for a $3,000 product, so I guess it is not as much of an impulse buy, but the majority of my visitors will probably already be ready to buy because of the keywords I am targetting.

Haha the reason I am frustrated is because I did a weeks worth of research and checked to see if the domain was open, the day before I was going to buy it, someone bought it and made a crappy site. I have big plans for the site.

I have had decent success with hyphenated urls, but I was cautioned not to exceed two per url.

A few years ago when I did my new domain name research, I decided to register only the hyphenated version of my keyword rich URL. Last year, my competitor registered the non-hyphenated version of the same keyword phrase and we are constantly neck and neck in the SEs. Big difference is that he pays $9K monthly adwords and I am purely organic. I love this game of seo.

"Quality content" is as much a spoof as any domain extension.

I started an experiment with hyphenated domain just to see if there is any extra positive or negative effects and I must say that I did not find any difference form regular non hyphen domains. First I was worried that Google might laugh me out but no, it has worked perfectly fine.
