I have a free ebook to distribute with the aim of buiding a list from & sending traffic to my blog. I have a squeeze page & autoresponder set up to deliver the link to the pdf. I have the pdf located in Amazon s3 (the file is about 40mb- its got alot of pictures) The thing is - is there a way I can get the PDF indexed by google - but the visitor has to enter their details to access the PDF? Thanks, Dan |

From my experience, if google indexed it, one can access it in the google cache. The spiders may not actually scan the entire document anyway, writing a 1 page excerpt both for squeeze page visitors and google might work best. Some marketers advise that you give a way your best stuff to attract the maximum buyers, no need to be mysterious or stingy with the excerpt. |

Anything linked only from a squeeze page cannot be crawled. The only way it will be crawled is if google finds some backdoor pointing to the item. |

1) The 1st part of the pdf gets indexed by Google. 2) The 2nd part is accessed from a link inside the 1st pdf, this link will send the reader to your optin page. In return they will have the 2nd half of the pdf sent to them from the autoresponder. Keep the first pdf short & very interesting, remind them the 2nd part of the pdf is also free. You also have an advantage with a very large pdf, tell them you broke the pdf up into 2 parts since the file is so big, for hosting reasons or whatever... You wouldn't be lying, I mean 40mb is huge for a pdf. | |

PDFs sometimes get indexed and show up on search results, but usually only for very long tail phrases. You are better off taking the content into a normal website, and then building links to that page. |

PDF's are generally indexed by Google and are ranked too but if you are having images in pdf and also its too big then technique suggested by yukon would be best to go for.
