Just wondered if anyone had any personal experience of this? When I've checked the number of backlinks for the front page of say, Learn Spanish, most of the videos have a very limited number. I know there are other factors involved, like commenting, but I was hoping someone with personal experience could shed some light. Thanks |

Backlinking rules for everything no matter what (articles, videos, slideshares, free pdf's) everything. Obviously Youtube is a web 2.0 site and Google pays special attention to videos hosted on it, as well as MetCafe and Vimeo, so any effort you perform SEOing your videos will be recognized.

The result was that organically on YouTube I show up for terms like Joomla, Joomla Tutorial, Joomla Video etc. organically between the first and third video. My video also shows up on the first page of Google too. It's awesome.

Yes it does, sending the same links to a Youtube vid as you would a normal page on your site will push it up the rankings on both Google and You Tube.

Of course it works, especially with video people are more likely to watch a review then read a long boring copy. So yeah go ahead make your own videos and get those backlinks.

Backlinking a "video" is useless. It counts for nothing. You want to embed the video to get views. You want to build backlinks to your youtube channel. There really is no such thing as a backlink to an individual video. An individual video is not a webpage. The page that the video is on is a webpage, not the video. If you backlink to an individual video on youtube, your only hope is to get a view. Remember, the webpage the video is on in youtube is not a static webpage. Embed it. The views will pump up your stats. Webpages get ranked. Your youtube channel gets ranked. A youtube video is just flash code. It must be on a page in order for it to be viewed. But again, the webpage on youtube is a dynamic webpage created on the fly just to show the video. Paul |

Some videos in YouTube does not accept links and some are not working. I myself tried several times leaving a back link in YouTube but it does not generate traffic coz I do leave the link in a comment. Not a 100% sure if all the viewers will click the link you leave.

I took the video you see here and spent a few weeks getting backlinks to it. Now it dominates just about any Joomla related keyword on YouTube, and it shows up on the first page of Google for our most competitive keyword phrase. Joomla tutorial. I didn't get that video placed on the first page of Google till I spent the time getting backlinks to it. https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.co...joomla/&fr=sfp Yahoo Site Explorer tells us that the siteground.com Joomla tutorial page has about 23k linkbacks to it. My video? 68 backlinks. Not even 100, but WAY more backlinks than the majority of YouTube videos out there, and there it sits just below siteground.com for the most competitive term in my niche. You can't honestly believe that I trust what you say is true when I have concrete evidence that proves backlinks do help a YouTube video rise up in the ranks of both YouTube and Google. That video is responsible for our 9k list. I do agree that getting traffic back to your site is important, but if you have a rockin video on YouTube that points back to your site, and you have solid backlinks to your video it's a great way to build good solid targeted buying traffic if you know what you are doing. Starting out, a YouTube video has a better chance of being discovered than a random web page with a YouTube video embedded on it. YouTube is also the second biggest search engine in the world. Why would you not want your video found within a search engine that big? It's just like having any other social media outlet advertising your site. How is a YouTube video, with all the same SEO rules and benefits, different from a Squidoo lens?

Does backlink youtube vid work? Yeah it works.. Let's just say someone visit your youtube videos. And then that person want to get more information. All they have to do is to locate or click below the description to link back to your site. It's really beneficial especially if they are getting lazy typing on the searchbox rather click on the url below the description. |

Zane, Yukon, thanks for the examples. Right now I am trying to rank one particular video, guess I can get back soon and tell the results. I am backlinking it with 2.0 properties, own blog network (backlinks + embed) and the usual video responses. Thread bookmarked for future reference and update. |
