An interesting discussion is emerging on one of the WSOs about the acceptability of paid traffic from StumbleUpon to pages containing Adsense. It is not my intention to promote the product here, so I won't give a link to it. However, as many are aware, a few years ago Google came down heavily on a lot of marketers who were using paid sources of traffic and thousands lost their Adsense accounts. The guidelines indicate that what is acceptable depends a great deal on the design of the landing pages. In particular, the LP should not be principally for the purpose of promoting advertising. The publisher of the WSO claims personal experience that SU advertising has been acceptable for LPs containing Adsense. My question is mainly to those who have used StumbleUpon. Have you used it to send traffic to pages that display Adsense? What has been your experience? Do you have an opinion on this? Ivan |

I direct traffic using SU, but I don't pay for it. What is it, like five cents per stumble? Seems steep? (sorry, that was a slight topic hijack) |

SU traffic is about as low quality as it gets IME. Might be different if your site is focused on LOLcats, but for anything serious, its useless.

Well, I for one have actually purchased things I've stumbled on. The product just has to be very captivating. Like the day I stumbled upon Threadless Tees. I've blown like 240 bux there. Threadless graphic t-shirt designs: cool & funny t-shirts weekly! Tees designed by the community. Or Buckyballs. Buckyballs | The Amazing Magnetic Desktoy You Can't Put Down . Or Themeforest. Premium WordPress Themes and Web Templates - ThemeForest . Or Thinkgeek. ThinkGeek :: Stuff for Smart Masses . Or Slice host. Slicehost - VPS Hosting . Gee, I guess it only works if your product doesn't suck. |
