Hi guys I'm interested in expanding my affiliate marketing business to China this year. I just wanted to know if linking in Baidu in terms of off page SEO links is as easy as they say it is in this article: "Unlike Google, link building is all about quantity, not the quality of links to your site. This of course is the big door-opener for spam-infested SERPs. My best advice: get as many quality sources as you can linking to you. Do what you would normally do on a Google link building campaign, times 10. Anchor text on incoming links is important and is looked at, but it isn't a ranking factor that's emphasized as strongly as with Google." Source:Baidu -- The SEO Perspective - Search Engine Watch (SEW) So it seems I can get links from English blogs through, AMA, UAW and other networks and can still rank well in Baidu so long as I keep the anchor text Chinese? Also, how have random profile links from other countries fared for ranking in Baidu? So just spam the hell out of Baidu and you get ranked? I would appreciate your informational input. Thanks so much! |

Forget about China. Seriously. A few large sites run monopolies and I doubt you will find out what are the keywords in Chinese. It's not like you can translate them with google translate. Chinese is the hardest language in the world, it's a nightmare, even Google can't take China's market.

Thanks for your responses. I am Chinese literate and know where I can get employees in China. In other words, I will have no problems finding the relevant keywords and doing keyword research is a breeze for me. I am not worried about being able to get into China or getting a Chinese website, rather I am more concerned about ranking there. Are there any warriors with actual experience in this area? Thanks again! |

jacksonlin, Baidu did not bring any innovations in the data-mining and ranking domain. They picked up the same principles that Google uses to form SERPs. The major difference is that Baidu mostly respects links from Chinese sites (much more than from any other sites). PS. And I believe that their TOPs are manually adjusted. |

When Google first pissed off the china Gov. (couple years back) & got the boot, the only SE left was Baidu. My BIDU stock is up over 470%, since I first bought into them! Gotta love China...

So in other words, I can submit my articles to AMA, UAW and the like and still be able to rank in Baidu so long as I use Chinese anchor text. What do you mean their "TOPs" you mean the top sites ranking on the first page of the SERPs? Thanks!

@jacksonlin: Like you, I am also Chinese literate. I am really interested to know what monetization methods you have in mind for a site in chinese language? CY |

jacksonlin. Seems you already have some ideas about how to rank in Baidu. Why don't you just test that theory? I have seen some articles trying to rank for foreign keywords submitted to SEOLinkVine, AMA, and the like. If it proves to be successful, then probably you can share with us the results in WSO here. |

Well I am actually in the process of hiring Chinese writers and creating Chinese sites myself to test this theory. I was just hoping someone else has done it already so I can learn from them. As for monetization, that's not an issue. Worst case scenario I'll use adsense. Otherwise I'll make my own products, I'm confident with traffic I can make $! |
