Feeder Sites: How Important Are They?

So in trying to build traffic to my site(s), just how important (or necessary) are feeder sites/blogs to the success in a web site?

Are you talking in terms of directing traffic or backlinking..?!

Backlinking, mostly. Many ebooks/videos suggest creating a ton of web sites feeding back to the original one. I just wondered how imperative this really is.

I've been playing around with what you call feeder sites.

Basically I have one primary and two under it that link up to the primary.

Then I build my good links to the primary and a lot of cheaper/weaker/easier to get links to the two under it.

Its a time consuming process but supposedly works well. I can say that I have gotten a top rank on one very high competition phrase and it has paid off in terms of effort for money.

But not enough for me to say that I would do that for every site I have. I think you probably need more like 9 feeders to 1 primary to make it really work.

But if you are going to do that, its basically article marketing except you are posting on your own sites.

Had the same question, if you need something for backlinks that utilizes self hosted blogs, look into backlinks energizer, making quality feeder sites takes quality content
