Hi, I`d like to know if my domain name extension affects my search engine ranking negatively. |

In my own experience the extension (.com, .org, etc.) has not mattered much. I have ranked a .info for a moderately competitive keyword. Essentially, its all about the SEO and on page keywords.

From what I have read, domain name extensions do not affect search engine ranking unless they are country specific (for example, .uk would rank lower for searchers who are not in the UK). So no, your .info website should not be ranked lower on the main search engines because of the extension.

No one can tell you that answer for sure. There are lots of folks with lots of opinions but only the people in charge of doing the actual ranking know for sure. I have had good rankings with dot infos and some thta never got off the ground. Same as the other extensions I have used. |
