Default Keyword has 6,600 searches. Go for it?

I have found a niche which has 6,600 searches. The article sells between $30 and $50. I might end up high in the google results.

Problem: google usa puts not only picuters on top of the resluts from google images, but also pictures and prices from shops where you can buy the article directly. I fear that most of the prospective buyers would click on these " buying" links first before looking any further.

Are these niches still worth to go after?

Thanks

I agree with Sweely. If the word has 6600 searches with extremely high competition, then it'll be a little difficult to crack into the top ten of Google. However, if there is low competition, then go for it.

I've made money in niches with lower searches than that. I'd run with it if I was you.

Later,

Shane

Just from my own personal experience and this is with only one site i made several months ago.

It was pretty much the exact same sittuation as you not so much with pics but with the shops being listed and i have found it very very hard to compete with it. I dont mean to put you off and there is only one way to find out mate.

I say you go for it and see for yourself and if you get to the top then a big thumbs up and if you dont then i hope you learn something on the way.

Its all about testing innit.

If it is 'exact match' then I would go for it, otherwise not and it obviously depends on the competiton.

Thanks for your help, guys!

The keyword I want to go for is with low competition so I think I can end high in the results, but if I were a buying customer it's quite easy to click the pictures with the pricetag next to it. Well, perhaps I give it a try.

If competition is not an issue, I would suggest creating a very informative and concise landing-page that comes up above the competitors' ads.

You could use a title like ''Do NOT buy XXX before you read...'', but depending on your niche it might be too cheesy.

Also, you can see if you can be an affiliate for these products so you could put them in your sidebar to avoid people from leaving your site and going to these products without you getting rewarded. Just a thought.

Cheers,
Collatio

That's a good idea, thanks! I was planning on using amazon as an affliate. I think I just give it a try.

The pictures can be a real problem because the traffic naturally clicks on those so you have to be able to get the listing above them, otherwise you won't get nearly as much traffic as you might think. At least that is what has happened to me in the past.

As far as the 6600 searches, I make money in niches with less searches.

Of course, it all depends on the competition.

Or get your own picture up there AND get your site under the pictures.

If you go for it, consider taking the review angle to make your page stand out in the SERPs. People might consider reading your review before buying. If the product is good, you'll end up with a sale!

Searches per month are important, however, make
sure to only tap into niches you can actually handle
accordingly.

Lower competition requires less Off Page SEO work,
and less work in general.

As everyone else has stated as long as it has low competition go for it! Also, why not target multiple relevant keywords? I've never targeted just a single kewyord, even with minisites.

I agree,
I was planning on going for several low comp. keywords.

About getting my pictures high on google: that's quite a challenge. I'm constantly learning about seo for websites, but to get your pictures high in the results is whole new area for me.

It would be good if you'd find out how to get your pictures up there.

I had a dating-kind of blog once and over 40% of the visitors were coming through images. The thing, they didn't even bounce out the most. They stayed way longer than I expected and some even resulted in actions! (lower conversion, still good traffic)

Think about return on investment. If your method allows you to crank out a well-designed (i.e. not spammy) page quickly, it might be worth pursuing. Traffic from images is generally bad though, I have an adsense site with about half of its traffic from images and it simply doesn't convert. I put a lot of effort into the content and when it didn't gain the following I wanted, I scrapped the format, re-purposed the content, and loaded it up with adsense. Maybe not the best strategy, but I wanted some compensation for all of the time I sunk into it.

In short, make sure your effort is worth your while. Even if you value your time at a low rate (i.e. $10/hour), it is clearly your most valuable resource starting out and you should always look for the best way to spend your time!

As far as the pictures, seo them as well. Use the correct and varied alt text and description

if you can get an exact match domain and have an extra 10 bucks you don't mind potentially investing and not getting a $$ return... then yes!

I always outsource my backlinks and writing. That's sets me back about $30-$40 each month. I outsource the backlinks because that can be really time consuming and I hire writers because my English is not up to par.

So I need to take this also into account when I begin a new site.

I like to think that I'm an expert, but really I'm not, but I manage quite well with my sites As for the 6,600, I mean searches, not competition and I think I can beat them quite easily in the long run.

6,600 searches with 10 competitors is better then 660,000 searches with 10,000 competitors right?

The first one on average you will get 660 visitors and the last one 66 visitors.

Although the math is not as straight forward as above. This is just to get an idea.

The search volume is great, but you have to take it a step further to see if it's really "easy" competition or not. Also I've found that even keywords with MILLIONS of competiting keywords can be classified as easy. If the keyword has been used for years as a keyword to write a simple article on, and nothing else, it's easy pickins even though there are millions of competiting pages.

I recently got a customer to page 1 on 3 keywords that most people would never consider, having literally hundreds of millions of competiting pages, but bam...there he is.
