hey warriors, still learning seo. I know I need to build links to my blog. what can I learn from others who comment on my posts? my blog is new, one month old case in point, I have a comment someone left and of course the commenter left his url to his site, to be expected, and in the comment or the url (I deleted the comment so I don't recall where the "no follow" was indicated) the code "no follow" was in it as well what value is it to him if he indicates "no follow" ? if google's spiders look at this and sees "no follow" how does that help him? I assume if it is not addressed or indicated specifically as "no follow", then it is by default a "follow" situation, and google chalks it up as a link for me as well, that's what I assume in a "follow" scenario but in the case of "no follow" how does it help the commenter himself? any feedback is helpful (hope my explanation made sense!) dano~ |

Nofollow means it doesn't pass Pagerank. It DOES NOT mean that it won't help your site rank higher. Since Pagerank doesn't mean jack that means nofollow doesn't mean jack either. Only reason why nofollow ever became something popular to talk about because people that BOUGHT links didn't want nofollow and that's because most people that bought links were doing it for PR purposes. Now you will find info that says a nofollow will not effect search engine rankings. I never found that to be true and it's a big conspiracy! |

| Yahoo! and Google will still count that backlink as a backlink... Doesn't matter. I'm assuming your site has a PR0 anyway. No offense but it sounds like a newer blog. Some of my sites are PR0... Some are PR N/A Lol! That doesn't mean I'm not ranking for my keywords though....Anywho, diversity of links from PR N/A to PR7 and from no-follow/do-follow is good and normal. My opinion... Any link to your site is a good backlink... Unless of course it's from a Spam/Malware register ![]() CHEERS! |

A backlink is a backlink whether it's a "no follow" or not but the PR value will not pass to it.

Regardless of whether or not no follow backlinks help rankings, there is no benefit to him to add the no follow attribute to his link. I can't think of a single good reason why a person would intentionally add no follow to a backlink to their own site. Perhaps this person is a moron or in the least misinformed. Maybe he read on some scary SEO blog that his spammy link profile would result in penalty for lack of no follow / do follow diversity and this is his misguided attempt at correcting it. In any case there is no normal link building scenario where you will want to add the no follow attribute to your own backlinks. |

well I simply altered the code on his post before "approving it" and removed the "no follow" so problem solved! |
