I have an authority site that I put up a section for affiliate marketing that I want to try this on. Currently it's on page 3 of Google with local searches of 4,400 and 9,300,000 results for this keyword

I plan on using spun articles for all others except for Ezine because they've busting me pretty consistently for them.

Gotta be careful with the link wheels as its clear manipulations. There are many other better SEO strategies/approaches to higher rankings compared to link wheels..

What is the monthly local searches for this term?
why would third page of Google mean any traffic on anything other than a HUGEly searched term with 100s of thousands of monthly searches

To answer your question, "Time Management Quotes" gets 2900 Exact Match Global searches a month in Google. It's not a super-lucrative KW phrase, and 2900 is not much volume either. So you're right: third page means nothing in terms of traffic or revenue. All I'm saying is that Google still values the webpage enough to place it in the top 30 results.

The point of the experiment was to see how high I could rank with only six backlinks, and to see how long the ranking would last.

It has now been one year since I did the experiment. The results: The webpage was on the 1st page of Google for 8 months. And it is now on the 3rd page of Google (after one year).

I'm sure another round of backlinking would get the page back to the first page of Google, but I don't want to mess up the experiment. I just want to see how long until Google drops the page altogether.

Hey Tim, it's a shame you don't want to evolve the experiment a bit more. After all, the original experiment has pretty much run its course. What would be interesting to me is what it would take to get the page to the first 3-5 SERPs positions.

2) Wouldn't rel canonical be better than a 301, I here it bleeds less PR.

Just out of interest, what kind of KWs were you targeting? in terms of search volume and competition.

You can definitely use hubpages.

You can vary them a little, but too many KWs will be ineffective. I usually focus on one primary KW and two secondary KWs. I also like to throw in a "Click Here" and a "nakeddomain.com" anchor text every once in a while.

6,600 Broad Match
3,600 "Phrase Match"
2,900 Exact Match

The KW phrase was not overly competitive.

For those concerned about using redirects form the same domain and worrying that it might create a problem latter on, you can use a few instant approval directories in the mix.

Here is what I did:

GoArticle(Instant- PR3)

ArticleBlast (Instant- PR5)

SelfGrowth ( PR6) Not instant, but it gives you a url for the pending artcile, which will be the same when its approved and published. So, you can use the pending link to link to it from another directory)

ArticlesBase (Approves in a few hours- PR6)

SooperArticles (Approves in about 48 hours or so- PR5)

ArticleRich (Approves in about 48 hours or so- PR4)



GoArticle = Links to Your site + ArticleBlast

ArticleBlast= Links to Your site + SelfGrowth

SelfGrowth= Links to Your site + ArticlesBase

ArticlesBase= Links to Your site Only

ArticleRich= Links to Your site + GoArticle

SooperArticles= Links to Your site + ArticleRich



So, with this, you can either:

Use link redirect for 1 or 2 of them, better than having redirect fro all.
Or
You can wait a few hours for 2 of them to get approved and then go back to other 2 sites and edit the artcile to link to the new approved articles on each sites.

I hope this will help to clear confusion for soe of you guys.

I just did this last night for a keyword (highly competitive) that I am on the first page (8), so, hopefully it can help bring it up a few levels. I'll be sure to report back.




You dont have to necessarily sue the same directories Tim Mentioned. Find other directories that approve faster, or use the ones I mentioned above.
