Default A Question to Experts: non-english website promotion

Hi!

If you are an expert, I need your help.

I have a Polish website that is quite new and built primarily for Polish speakers. It is a blog, built on Wordpress, with high quality articles. The number of backlinks: not far from 0.

My question to you is:

If I want to promote it, strengthen it- meaning - to build links, do I NEED to create backlinks that come from Polish sites only?
I am building a strategy for this site, so I will be building many backlinks, through blog commenting, article marketing etc.

If the links are created on English sites and have Polish anchor text, will the links count in the eyes of Google?

the site is new, what are your suggestions on the right number of links that can be created for it, so the site will not be blocked and put into the sandbox?

What do you suggest?

Thanks!!!

Links from Polish sites would likely be best, but links from English and other language sites will also work.

Be careful with Wordpress, if any of your comments is flagged as spam, they will deactivate your blog, and they will never return the blog back to you. Just a helpful warning.
I posted comments on others' blogs with backlinks back to my site, my blog was banned. Now I have to start all over again

BaloneyTony, Barcelona thank you for the information.

@ BaloneyTony I was thinking that such compilations might be perceived as spammy, wasn't sure, thank you

@ Barcelona - perhaps it is just Wordpress.com ? or is it the same with Wordpress.org? I know that self-hosted sites are more flexible, in comparison with platforms built on Wordpress.com or Blogger.com

thanks!

Google looks at the surrounding text in the backlinks so the webcopy should be Polish if you want to see the best results. Hope that helps..Just be careful in your back link building cause not all links are created equal. Over the past 13 years doing SEO, I have found various links that I thought were good to be of complete waste...

Hi and thanks for your info

Can you be more specific when you say:"I have found various links that I thought were good to be of complete waste" . this is very interesting! what kind of links weren't successful or even more important - worth spending your time on?

best wishes

Radioheada,
Link building is an art and a science by itself...Many ppl spend lots of time on link building not knowing what will really help them but build links because thats what they hear. To summarize quickly, since you have a new site, you definitely want to stay away from low quality links and not mass bombard your site with massive link building at start as this could raise a red flag in Google. If you get your site listed on sites that you know have high popularity and shows up in the top of Google for many competitive keywords related to your field, that would be one potential good partner for you to build trust for your site. Usually they have a high page rank....

If you get listed on sites that dont rank well and are not very credible in the eyes if google, then stay away from those as much as possible...Once you have established more trust with your site with high quality link building as well as launching high quality and unique content, google will see that your site is of high value and that will help your rankings improve...At least that is from my experience...Also dont forget to build deep links as well to strengthen your pages further....Building back links to the main page only is also something to stay away from..I hope that helped...Good luck...

thank you so much for the information!
That is a great tip:

" If you get your site listed on sites that you know have high popularity and shows up in the top of Google for many competitive keywords related to your field, that would be one potential good partner for you to build trust for your site."

How funny it is that sometimes the most obvious conclusions are the last to be understood!

all the best
