How often Should I Ping My site???

Should I ping my site domain/sub-domains once a week or Once period?


Also...

What About META indexing?

Updating the site regularly will help the search engines to crawl through your websites easily. Fresh contents do matter to get it Indexed initially.

If your site is new and not yet Indexed then do update it regularly.

I only ping my site every time I had a new post. N I think there is a penalty for over pinging.

I am new to the ping concept as well, so I really don't know exactly what I am talking about here. I read quite a few articles on the topic and got mixed messages the more I read. So, finally I decided to do SOMETHING, even if it was the wrong thing. So here is what I did yesterday,
I used six different sites. Ping o matic, Pingoat, feed shark, feed ping, pingler and pingates. I currently have seven articles on my site.
When I started, I was attempting to ping each article once at ping o matic, it allowed two articles and then gave me a message, "hold on Cowboy!" for the third article. So I moved onto the other 5 and submitted an article at each of them. It is too soon to tell if this was a good approach or not, I am not telling anyone to do this, this is just what I decided to do. Each ping service does ping different sites, I am sure some received the similar ping, but each article did have a different title, so I was hoping this would be kosher.

Then wait for few days and see what results if it continues then its not because of your pinging

Don't even bother. It's a waste of time doing it--even more a waste of time worry about it.

I you post regularly and have backlinks you will get indexed quickly.

I get posts on sites indexed instantly.

If you don't. Pinging won't help. Work on getting to the stage that your posts indexed and ranked instantly.

And if it does help. It is very bloody negligible.

Pinging does help but it won't necessarily boost your ranking. There are so many other factors involved.

Ping only when you have new content or a significant update.

Avoid over pinging. In fact I have a plugin on my blog that prevents over pinging.
