I am looking to go after my local market in a city in Florida (USA) and get some clients who I can do SEO work for. Does anyone have any tips. I was looking to target maybe professionals such as doctors, lawyers, plumbing companies and so on. Also undecided on how much to charge the clients. I have been doing SEO for my 3 websites for the last 3 years with pretty good success. I am looking to expand my income and do SEO for local companies. Please if you have any tips and/or words of advice I would really appreciate it. |

Sure I have been doing Local Business Internet Marketing for over 4 years for quite awhile seeing good success. Here is the basic outline of how you should start:1. Build yourself a blog using either your company name or your personal name. Example I bought 2 domains GabrielBryan.com and RaptorSocialMedia.com. Although people will tell you a website is not necessary to start (and it isn't!) it makes it much much easier . Get those sites ranked highly simply for the Domain Keyword Phrase (Example GabrielBryan.com is ranked on page 1 for "Gabriel Bryan"). Although this doesn't make much sense for a SEO guy (ummm ok how many people are searching for "Gabriel Bryan" each month??) business owners will see that and go "wow you are good!". It sounds stupid but it works trust me .2. Write at least 5 killer articles about Local Business SEO (or Online Marketing or whatever Local Niche you are targeting) and refer your possible clients there. These articles should be KILLER! Take your time.... 3. Write a eBook about Local Business Marketing (or better yet get a PLR eBook) and get a Autoresponder service set up to collect emails. Seems pointless but you need to start this NOW! 4. Start calling local businesses . Here is the kicker. You think you need to sell people on your services. YOU DON'T! Your clients are already out there presold and WAITING for you to call. You may not believe me but there are actually business owners out there who have a basic understanding of Local Internet Marketing and are just itching to try it. All you have to do is call up and say "Hi, I am a Local Business Internet Marketing Specialist and I am looking to partner up with a few local businesses in your area. I help you get you more customers. Are you interested?" Its that simple . Don't be afraid of getting nos cause you will get ALOT of nos. P.S. Start them off with a simple Google Placements Optimized Listing and go from there. Good luck |

Hope you are experienced at link building... Because on-page/on-site SEO will not get you very far with anything even moderately competitive. I agree that you definitely need a site (or sites) that you can use to show your work since potential clients are going to want to see a portfolio. I've been fortunate. I've never had to find clients. They find me, but if you've never done this professionally, it can be tough without a portfolio or a resume that shows you've done it for a major online property. |

A website is now like a business card. Your sale ratio will be a lot worse without a website. That is a fact! Cold call sales, start doing it! That is all you have to do really, besides the grunt work. Pick up the phone book, pick up the phone, and start calling. It might take 100 no's before you get a yes, but that is sales, it's a numbers game! |
