Default How to Rank Similar Terms - Same Page or Categories?

Lets say I want to rank a site for the terms:

blue sneakers
blue shoes
blue footwear

etc.

All these keywords get similar traffic, and all are lucrative to me. (examples)

How would I choose which one is the home page? Or would I try to rank the home page for all of them?

I woudl guess that the ideal design would be to make them seperate categories. But to a human, they are basically all the same thing. But should they still be placed into category "silos" ?

Since all 3 are similar and there is only 3 I would do homepage for all 3.

Now if they weren't the same and more I wouldn't.

I would just make a general homepage, which consists of all 3. But if they are very lucrative terms then I would have a general homepage, with 3 seperate pages for each topic, SEOed to the dot.

Ok lets say its 12 terms that all mean the same thing.

Would you create seperate "Category" pages / silos for all of these?

Of course, all the phrases mean the same thing to an average customer. However, you can separate them into different caregories because they all have different designs under them. For instance, sneakers are generally worn on informal events while shoes are really meant for formal engagements. Under each class, you can have different types of shoes and different types of sneakers. Separate them to different categories and discuss each design under each category.
