Default Deindexed site- which one of these two options you recommend?

So my site got deindexed. It is not g-dance, sandbox or something like that. I searched the site using mydomain.com (with and without http: etc), site: mydomain.com, copying content from my site and pasting into G. And the site certainly is not there. It is in other search engines.

About the site: The site is more than a year old. There is one page of content and 0 backlinks. But it was indexed. Recently I decided that I can put the domain to good use, so start updating the site. After a couple of posts I wanted to check the site on G and it wasn't there.

I searched for a solution and it seems like I have two options. Either appeal to G or work on the promotion (backlinks etc.). I am leaning towards the promotions. I would like to know if that would be a complete waste of my effort and time?

I know nobody can say it for sure since G is not owned by any warriors. But I am thinking maybe some of you faced this situation before and got out of jail. I would like to get some advice from those warriors. This is the first time I am experiencing this with any of my sites.

If anyone knows of any other option I might have, I am all ears.

Thanks in advance.

Again....(as for the "i got suspended from Adwords")...forget it.

Scrap the domain, create a new one.

Alternatively, you could waste a LOT of time on trying to get the site indexed again..just to see that all your efforts wont do anything. Time better spent starting new.

Edit: I once purchased a domain which had some kind of penalty on it..it NEVER showed up in the index. Contacted google because i was the new owner, made a quality site...filed for reinclusion etc..etc... Nothing. Then..in the same time with that emails back and forth i made a new site on a new domain which was indexed within 2 days...thats why i say dont even bother trying to get it reinstated.

Same thing happened to me - I didn't realize the domain name had previously been used and I thought I was registering it now. When it never got indexed after several weeks I went to the wayback machine and found my answer.

Anyway, I also recommend that you just get a new domain and start over - it would be a shame to spend all that time/money building backlinks and never get it indexed!

Many thanks to all of you. That is why I asked at the first place. Didn't want to waste my time fighting for a lost cause. Thought it would be nice if I could save it since it was more than a year old (domain age).

Anyway, I really appreciate the responses guys.
