I got 2 domains from a warrior friend last year. I decided to develop them into websites because I could see that they could be goldmines in the future if well developed and managed. One of them is currently #1 out of 109,000 within 24 hours of putting the first set of articles in it. I was surprised because I never saw that result coming so easy and quick. ![]() The one that surprised me most is the second domain. Yesterday, I just decided to add some articles to it. What exactly did I do? 1. I turned some of the keywords into web pages. Precisely, I created 7 web pages. 2. I went into ezinearticles.com and took 7 "most viewed" articles related to the niche and keywords from there. 3. I added a header and a footer to each of the articles without touching any of the author's links in the resource box. 4. I posted the articles to the site; one to each web page. 5. I used feedage.com to create RSS Feed of the site and submitted the feed to both feedage.com and feedagg.com. 6. I used pingler.com to ping the site though I'm aware that WP has built-in pingomatic. 7. I submitted the site's URL link to digg.com. Finito! After about 6-8 hours of following the above steps, hey, I searched for the site's targeted keyword and I saw the site at #11 out of over 5 million search results. I don't know what to tell you but I think you have to try it. If it worked for me so easily, it can work for you too. When you find a strategy that works, just replicate it. Hope it helps some of us. |

1. Did these websites have anything on them before you started this? and 2. How old were the domains that you used? Thanks |

Nothing is wrong with that as much as I know. It only becomes illegal or wrong if you remove the original author's links.

As long as you haven't violated these rules-(not all inclusive, but the ones seemingly pertinent to what you did) - then I think you have republished them according to E/A's terms. Quoted from E/A's site: You Must: Respect the copyrights of the authors by publishing the entire article as it is with no changes. Agree to include the FULL Resource box or SIG line at the end of the article. Agree not to change the title or content of the article in any way. Again this isn't the whole list but what seems to pertain to your work. You said you simply added a header and footer. I don't think that would be considered changing the content in any way. Sounds like you worked a great formula by the book. I am going to look closer at this formula and see if it might help one of my sites. Thanks for the input. Robert |

| It is not ripping if you leave proper credit and leave links, title intact. Ezine articles are there for the purpose of republication (besides obviously reading). It is no different if I were to write a blog post about butterflies and say oh and look at this great article that talks about butterfly breeding (insert article).

Who said SEO has to be difficult in the first place...^^ Just some quick questions to better be able to categorize your results. (You really don't have to share if you don't want to) Were those exact-match domains? How many exact match searches do those keywords get? I assume they're rather long-tailish...^^ I guess your results can be tracked back to the following observations (nothing new, but some people might not be aware of this): 1. Domain age is important for SEO, which also seems to be the case if there was not really a site built on it before (even more important if domains aren't exact-match) 2. Checking your keyword in quotes isn't really a good measure for the competitiveness of a keyword. It can maybe used as a first pre-qualifier, however I'm sure there are keywords with only 2 million "competition" in quotes and you would rank nowhere with the effort you put in. Being #11, you are now facing your true competition, since you only receive a trickle of the traffic you could get if you're willing to do some more SEO work. 3. You don't need purely unique content to rank a webpage. Best regards, ~R. Shawner |

I like your strategy and have been thinking about making a site similar to the way you have here. However, I'm not quite sure if I understand this part correctly: Quote:
2) Did you take the 7 most viewed articles relating to your niche and make the pages using the keywords that those articles were targetting? Or did you go to ezinearticles and search the pre-researched keywords and use the most viewed articles for those keywords and use them for your pages? Also, how many sentences were your header and footer paragraphs? I'm also wondering if these paragraphs solidify your SEO of the keywords that the articles are targetting or if you use them to target secondary keywords?

2. I typed in the keyword into Google search like this: keyword site:ezinearticles.com. All the articles that contain the keyword/keyphrase appeared. I clicked on the first article which led me to the list of most viewed articles under that category. I chose the first on the list. 3. Three paragraphs of two long sentences each which contain the targeted keywords at random. That's all. I'm not an SEO geek so I can't explain much about primary and secondary keywords because I don't know much about them.

So I guess the biggest question is one to monetize this? If its a standard wordpress blog (as all the posts are listed on the homepage) what are you accomplishing other than sending traffic to the people who wrote the articles you used? I guess you could monetize with Google Adsense, which could become very viable if you could scale up, but by using other's content (and leaving their links intact) I'm having a hard time thinking of another way to properly monetize. |

I have submitted just 2 unique articles to the sites and then to EZA just to test how I can get more targeted traffic to the sites and backlinks. I'm just watching. Test, test and test the waters. Truly, I'm enjoying this experiment.

EDIT: All the posts are not on the homepage. I created a web page for each keyword related article. I have my original content on the homepage and that is where the CB products are too. |

Now this sounds just to easy to be worth while. I a not saying it doesnt work. However if you could at least give us the keyword or the destination to your site. It would help determine alot more on what it is you are actually doing. Cause I am sure there is a whole lot more to it then just creating a header footer and adding a swiped article off of eza. You can contact me with this info if you do not want to disclose here and disrupt your stats. I would just like to know a bit more about this is all. For I have a few sites sitting there doing nothing at the time and have been backed up with other work. So I havent had time to get to them.

The only important question that hasn't been asked. With the ranking those pages have, how much traffic are they receiving? If the traffic is good... great job. If not, back to square one. |

If the keywords are good or have reasonable traffic you'll see results immediately. Now that you have these sites ranked, are you seeing results? What I'm getting at is this... Quote:
Quote:
They don't represent the competition for a keyword or it's value. They are really big numbers that people like to throw around because it looks impressive. What is important (if you are relying on search engine traffic) is the amount of traffic those keywords and pages are receiving and how well you can monetize that traffic. Ranking #1 for some bobo keyword that nobody is searching for isn't going to do you much good. That doesn't mean low traffic keywords are bad. If you're only pulling in 20 hits a day but can convert 5 of them... you're kicking ass and taking names. So back on track, as soon as your site hit #1 for a keyword, you'll know right away if it's a winner or a dud. Not trying to discourage you, just trying to keep some perspective and help you refine what you are doing to make sure you are not wasting time and are making money. | I was like you as well there jason. However he did show me the sites. I only analyzed one of them and the main keyword according to googles keyword tool gets 22k monthly broad searches. That same term gets 2900 exact searches a month and that site is also in the number one spot. So I have to say I am rather impressed. After looking at the sites they are pretty straight forward and yes just as he said almost 100%. There are a few things I would do differently but that is just me as well.

The TLD does not matter at all, whether it is a .org, .info or something else, it will not influence your ranking in any way. By the way, what exactly are you adding to the header and footer for the articles that you pull from ezinearticles?

What most people fail to mention or realise is the competition. I see this all the time, someone is like "OMG!! I got #2 out of 55 million competing sites" when infact its a non buying keyword, with little traffic, and virtually no competition. The big thing you need to keep in mind is the stregth and backlinking strength of your top 5 compeditors. |
