Default Here's an SEO LOL - You're Gonna Like This

Don't ask me how or why I found such an ebook, but here is an exact quote that I consider to be the most unintelligible thing ever said about SEO:

"Write your content with a human being in mind. Spam
content will have gigantic negative effects on your
rankings. This is called Latent Semantic Indexing.
Google has identified certain words that should be
mentioned when discussing certain subjects. When
talking about office chairs, Google expects to see the
term desk. What this means is that you should write for
people and not for the search engines."

It's actually not as bad as you think.

First, you should write content and create sites for human visitors,
not search engines.

Second, google has indeed identified certain words that are spammy.
vi agra being one of many.

Third, it looks like the writer was trying to convey that if you are going to
make a site or post about office chairs, don't stuff with office chairs.
Put it in context, such as with desks.

It's actually not as funny when you think about it.

I don't agree with you Paul: http://media.ugoto.com/pictures/via_agra-d13.jpg

On a serious note, I would agree with Paul. I think it's natural for a human being to try and substitute a word with common or uncommon synonyms to increase the readability.

Man you guys are killing my fun

I found it funny because the guide was full of blunders and he defined LSI as writing for humans, seems very confused to me.

I guess I'll just drop the whole thing, maybe I didn't set the mood right to tickle the ole funny bone.

The guy who wrote that obviously doesn't even know what LSI is...
He mixed up both things (LSI and good content writing), do you remember the price of this ebook?

That's why it's only half funny.

The first is spot on:

"Write your content with a human being in mind. Spam
content will have gigantic negative effects on your
rankings. "

Except for maybe gigantic.

To me, the spirit of the paragraph is not bad.

Create content for humans, weave your content the way
it should be, not keyword stuffing.

Lots of you love seobook

This simple method correlates surprisingly well with how a human being, looking at content, might classify a document collection. Although the LSI algorithm doesn't understand anything about what the words mean, the patterns it notices can make it seem astonishingly intelligent.
Office chairs are a good match for anything in office furniture. Desks,
bookcases, etc.

Google is very, very good at identifying words that should or should
not be there. The whole instant thing is based on that. Along with
search results kicked out that google thinks are content related to what
you want, even though you are insisting otherwise.

Words in content are powerful.

Just do a search for

and see what pops up. Google KNOWS what you really want.

Actually, what he wrote is so wrong not. Maybe not perfectly expressed, but basically right in what he is saying.

I think it make sense. But when I write content on a new webiste it's a little bit hard to actually write to a "human being". I always think about how search engines will see it and that's the wrong approach.

The SE/Google will ALWAYS adapt to the humans - not vice versa.

You dont see some "non real" reflections in Google results which has nothing to do with what people are looking for (eg. "related keywords")....Google will always try to adapt/reflect what people/humans search.

From that point of view its NOT wrong to "write for humans"...and its the wrong mind-set to make a site "for google" in the first place. (Of course, we SEOs do it anway...)

Writing/designing FOR THE PEOPLE is therefore automatically also writing "for Google" <---

Google doesn't "make up" abstract rules we have to follow. For example, LSI keywords is not an "invention" by Google.....but something coming from an observation/analysis of articles/sites written (by humans) about whatever subject - and these analysis/rules will then be used in their search algorithms. (Deciding rank, relevancy, authority etc.)

It's the way he wrote it. I get his point without having read his book, but I got a good idea why you may have found it funny.

He basically conveys to not write with search engines in mind. Like don't try to "try" to over SEO... if that makes any sense to you.

Take care,

Bernard
