Web 2.0 Properties still effective for links?

Hi

Most of my link building efforts over the past year have been using blogs, profile links, article sites etc. I haven't used Web 2.0 properties for quite a while.

I just wanted to check to see if anyone is still finding these effective in creating links to their money site? I figured as the are used by a lot of people in IM, that Google etc may not place much value on links from them.
