Hello, I have a website expresspardons.com What is happening is there is a very high percentage of our clicks going to unimportant pages, when looking into it it looks like google is placing a very high priority on these pages because of the high number of links from our own site pointing to these pages. When looking at our website and why we would be linking to these pages so many times I discovered that at the bottom of every page on our site is a static "resource center" with links to information pages. I'm thinking that instead of google counting these links like a menu just once they are counting a link on every single page we have, which then is telling the search engines these are the most important pages. I don't know what to do, should I put "no follow" tags or is there something else I can do so this resource center can be on every page but we are not passing link juice from every page to it? Thank you very much for your anwsers |

Create a sitemap.xml file and set the priority higher for the more important pages.

Darcy, you could create a loop that funnels the link juice back from each page and post to your home page. This way you strengthen the home page and no link juice is lost or diluted. This is how you do it: put an anchored text link at the end of each post and page pointing to the home page. Could look like Back to Expresspardons (or what ever your keyword phrase is that you target) and behind the word Expresspardons you put your home page link. Good luck! |

First of all you need to tell us which page is the most important. Based on that you can do a little thing called PR sculpting, in a safe way. Basically you either make the links to unimportant pages "nofollow" and/or link more to the important pages. That way your most important pages show up first on Google. You may also choose to remove the unimportant pages from Google entirely. That way you can keep the links intact while getting all traffic to your main page. Feel free to ask any more questions.
