Default Using Yahoo Answers for traffic?

Hi,

Yesterday I answered some questions on Yahoo Answers and left a link. Does anyone use this way to get traffic for adsense?

Would it be ok for me to do that if I had adsense?

Ben.

Ben.

I don't see why you couldn't do both, however the relationship is minimal at best. Yahoo answers delivers little, however it's very targetted traffic. They most often look into your offer only.

Adsense is more of a numbers game where any kind of traffic is welcome...

Unless of course you have some "Eureka" idea in mind...

My experience on using Yahoo Answer:

Posting too much links will cause your account reported as spam abuse.

Not posting too much links will also cause a ban.

Depends on what sort of keywords you are targeting for your ads.

Most probably, the ads are going to be relevant to what the Answers page was about, so you should answer questions related to your site for best results.

Those people would be more likely to click, since they are in search of related info anyway.

I've have some great luck with Yahoo! Answers. I was part of that community before I ever got involved in IM/SEO/SEM.

You have to be a lvl 2 or higher to post LIVE links.

My Yahoo! Answers traffic for ONE site is a little less than Search Engine traffic... Which is pretty d@mn impressive!

What I like to do is set up Google Alerts for the keywords I am targeting/trying to rank for. Say I set up an alert for "Fly Fishing" "Fishing Rods" "Fishing Vacations" whatever... I get my daily alert and one of them is from Yahoo! Answers: "Should I use a Regular Fishing Pole or a Fly Fishing Pole?"

Go answer the question with a REALLY good answer (if the Asker doesn't vote me #1 then I'll revisit the question and vote my answer as best). I have a 90% chance of being awarded BEST ANSWER! So when people search that same question and see you have the best answer... They've got a pretty good chance at visiting your site.

Oh yeah... I was using fishing pole stuff as an example if you have a site about fishing or something related.

You may not get a TON of Yahoo! Answers traffic, but it's highly targeted traffic!

CHEERS!

Yahoo Answers is available in almost any country in the whole word. Once somebody is posting a question in a particular country or location, can get answers coming also from that country that posted only in their home page and not available in other countries.

There are a couple of ways in which you can get targeted traffic from Yahoo Answers and almost all of these are highly targeted customers. The first thing to do is set up an account with Yahoo, and better still use you main keyword as your user name so you can have more a better advantage.

When you are already on Yahoo Answers, you can answer questions posted and a better idea is to answer simple questions because your initial goal is to get points. Answering the easy questions can build your reputation by getting the points and increase your level.

Yahoo answers is a great way to get traffic, at times some yahoo questions are ranked high in the search engines.

Yahoo Answer is great for those people looking for some advice. It's just not a great tool for us to get backlinks. That's all.

If you are genuine in your efforts, then there is nothing wrong with dropping links.

Spamming is out of the question. If I see a Answer I won't hesitate to report it. That sh*t ruins Yahoo! Answers... Just like queers coming in here and spamming posts to get their sig seen or their affiliate link (which is against TOS)!

You can actually get a nice number of backlinks from Yahoo! Answers - And they look even better to Google b/c they take out all the filler crap (dots hyphens slashes). Yes, Google counts NOFOLLOW backlinks... Nothing new here.

CHEERS!

Never were truer words spoken. It's a number game for sure. Sometimes it amazes me how a site can get 800 unique hits in one day and only make $14.34

But overall it's worth being patient and plugging away at it.

The webmasters that exploit Yahoo! answers are plentiful, and some of them really do it well, but like anything it takes allot of work, and no guarantee they will stick.

It's traffic only though. Google does not count these links for authority.

Sorry Scott G. It's just not so. Indexing and spidering yes. Authority no.

Oh yeah...and you are right. The answers HAVE to be very good.

WRONG! Thanks for playing though I'm joking.

NoFollow links are counted for more than just indexing and spidering! Wait.. What else is a backlink to count for besides indexing and spidering? Given indexing=ranking.

To Gain Traffic = Yes.
Link Juice / Rankings = Not Really.

I can count roughly 6.5% of my traffic source comes from Yahoo Answers (also depending on the niche) but keep in mind, you have to really, i mean really ANSWER questions, without being too blatant of putting your link out there. I see people getting banned all day long because they blatantly spam their link in their answer.

Just be wise and intelligent in how you use the link exposure.

@benintheworld - Using Yahoo Answers is a legitimate traffic strategy ( I know a guy that quit his job and went full time in IM thanks to it ) but don't solely rely on it for traffic for reasons already outlined in this thread. Go for the "ice cream" approach. Some of it is good for you but too much may give you a bad stomach.

Why are you guys so worried about rank? Everything you should do is to get more traffic. More traffic is more sales. People are ranked a lot higher than me but I still have better traffic. A guy I know spends about a grand a month in adwords, and I have 4X the traffic he has.

Point is, worry about getting people to your site. Ranking will come with time, but get some traffic!

Ben.
Well getting traffic from yahoo answers is kind of a little of a hustle though not that much. I was also doing some experiment looking for real buyers, then i came up with this thread.

"where do i buy" + product e.g acai berry site:answers.yahoo.com

what this will do is give you question by people who are looking for places to buy acai berry or whatever product you have. So for example if you can affiliate with acai berry and create a simple squeeze page and sell the product by placing a link on yahoo answers. well it does work as i have had subscribers and buyers without a doubt.

i hope this helps somebody.

Yahoo! answers is a decent traffic source. However, don't abuse it by using links all the time. They ban your account.

Default Re: Using Yahoo Answers for traffic?

I don't see many of the yahoo answers links reported in yahoo explorer, compared to forum links and blog commentings. I've got a Level 3 account. Hence I do agree with some of you who say that the ROI is not as good.
