Default Clarification on the PASSING of PAGE RANK anyone?

Here's my question.

Dofollow links pass page rank, of course. But when page rank is passed, does the originating site LOSE page rank?

For example, if a page on a site has a page rank of 5, and this page has 100 DOFOLLOW outbound links to page rank 0 sites, will the page with page rank five LOSE its page rank because of this linking?

Anyone tested this by any chance?

I don't think anyone knows the real answer, but from Matt Cutt's videos, the more outbound links, the more the PR is split amongst the outbound links. If I ever see a blog post with hundreds or thousands of comments, I keep walking as an PR from that is virtually useless. My 2 cents.

There aren't any PR5 sites that link to 100 PR ZERO SITES. One link from a PR5 is worth about $250 but there's usually no more than 5 outbound links on a page unless their authority content can support more.

Do-follow and don't follow doesn't matter since it didn't control spam. You could say everyone is in the sandbox now unless you get high ranking one way links that matter to your content. Privately negotiated between site owners/webmasters is okay and you can link to your own websites and blogs on the same IP if they make sense and contribute value to your content. Nothing but contextual links that matter are followed as of 11/20/10 but people are still in denial especially when they hear 50 good links are all you need. No gutter links, footer links or navigational links count anymore either.

The rest of them are just extra fat that won't make a difference and no backlinks make any difference for sites under 3,6,9 or 12 months depending on the site's content and how natural it comes across when it gets indexed. Pinging will make it take longer to get indexed and ranked so you might want shut them off for the first year or only ping when you have something IMPORTANT that will benefit everyone who reads whatever you've just pinged them for.

What people fail to realize is GOOGLE KNOWS THE DIFFERENCE. The latest semantic technology and clean data stored in relational data bases has been improving every week for years and finally they can almost decipher anything humans can but still not 100% - that will never happen. Even if they get up to 85% that's not much of a margin for anymore loopholes to fool near human robots, not anymore,

I don't know this for sure but thousands of backlinks could help identify sites that have been trying to gain PR by paying for automated linking. That would be called "backlink backfire" but again, I'm sure sure about that but I wouldn't be surprised.

I do know that every page has to have a unique title or it won't be indexed at all. Use the H1-H4 header tags and make them unique and do what comes natural. That's all you have to do and quit tripping on tricks that cost you money and give other people grunt work to do. Those same people could learn how to research articles and figure out what's going on with the value of the US dollar that keeps dropping - something more important than links that don't matter anyway.

P.S. Don't expect anymore comments - People don't like talking about unpleasant things even though whatever happens can easily be turned into something better than before if they just deal with reality now instead of later. Like the US Dollar falling - that's next!!

There is one thing you can do if you want to gain some PR points. Register new domains or renew them for three years instead of one. That shows you're not a fly-by-night marketer looking for a quick domain to use and then dump or park with ads. Don't register for 10 years or that will be too obvious that PR rank is what you're after. Do what makes sense because anything else won't work anymore.
