| I threw up a site and domain for a key-phrase about five days ago. Two days later, many of the pages were indexed and showing up on page 3. However, since then, they've sat there. Is that it? I've done a ton of on page SEO (sitemap, "All in One SEO" plugin, etc.) I've put a few back-links out there as well. It's a low competition key phrase with some weak pages showing on in the top results (a yahoo answer being number 2). Should I just relax for now and see what happens, or keep tweaking it. I know I'm impatient; it's sooo hard for me to set and wait. Any thoughts? |

If you to intend to compete on 1st page of Google, do not neglect the power of backlinking to your site but you may want to do it in a natural way. Google loves fresh content and backlinks!

Geesh...you might be leading the race for 'most impatient' for SEO results. Buy some adwords if you want results tommorrow. If you have been doing any seo work, it will take some time. For what you are describing as far as competition, expect a month or two minimum. If that's too long a wait, maybe this isn't the right business for you.

To move past page 3 you will need to do some consistent backlinking. The onpage stuff and sitemaps are great as a foundation but spending time tweaking these things is a waste of time. Leave them alone and focus on backlinking. This can take weeks or months to see results but it really is the only way you will break through the barrier you have hit. Try some article marketing, blog commenting, and social bookmarking for now. Plenty of free info here about how to do this effectively. |

You should give at least one or two months for normal keywords to be shown in first page.

Well done. Sometimes you can rank in 3 days, other times it will take 3 months. I don't know why Google is like this. Partly due to the competitiveness of your niche I guess, but also because they often like to build trust first.
