What have we learnt from this PR Update (Jan 2011)?

Ok Warriors,

Its quite obvious that Google have updated their PageRank. The dust will settle in a few days.

Ok so moving on, from all of you that have experienced a drop, an increase or nothing at all, do you have any theories on what it was you implemented which was the result of this update?

Have you noticed any patterns to give you an idea as to what were the determining factors this time around?

I think from looking at some of my sites, there seems to definitely be a focus on fresh content and strong on-page optimisation. I have also noticed that sites with sidebars with lots of internal links also didn't do very well. This is only based on my sites.

I'm in the UK so a lot of my UK based sites haven't updates yet.

Would love to hear what everyone's thoughts are.

It is so hard to say. I have made so many changes since LAST April that knowing which ones helped is no more than a guess.

This is true.

Getting many permanent and aged backlinks from high PR pages would be the contributing factor for everyone I would believe.

I'm in the uk and 2 of my sites dropped from pr2 to pr1 to be honest I have touched them since I built them so I cant really complain.

Mine remains unchanged even though i have done a lot since 2010 May.

Mine too remains unchanged.But I noticed some of the sites hit really hard by this PR update.The strategies still remains the same-link from high pr web pages.
