Default A genuine tip for your linkbuilding efforts

I just learned of this strategy the other day through the Traffic Travis 5 part mini course. I HIGHLY recommend everyone to read this mini course about SEO. It comes free with a free download of Traffic Travis.

Anyway they said "what good is it if you are posting your link to pages that aren't even indexed?" For instance some people post to directories that are PR0 and certain pages on their site aren't even indexed yet. So don't NOT post there, but instead get the page indexed on your own!

FAST WAY: Open a Twitter account, make sure your Twitter profile is indexed first, and then tweet the URLs of the unindexed pages on Twitter and the search engines will pick them right up with your link on them.

Make your backlinks count - make sure they're indexed!

Just getting a page indexed won't raise it's PR (it might, but not necessarily). Plus, are you talking about someone else's site? I'm sure it helps your backlinks, but it's enough work getting my own sites enough links... If it works it works though :-)

Is twitter follow or nofollow? I have always wandered if it is good for SEO. I will just post all my backlinks to twitter if that is the case.

No no, I wasn't talking about raising PR whatsoever. I was talking about making sure that the page with your backlink on it is indexed. That's all. What good is a backlink if it's not indexed? That's the whole point.

This is just another take on the ping your links approach that's been around for years.

I'm struggling to imagine anyone actually having a problem getting pages indexed - there are so many ways to do it that are quick, easy and free that have been around for years that I don't know why people still even talk about indexing like it's some sort of challenge.

I know people selling seo stuff like to try and make out there's some secrets but really this stuff is old old old...

I don't know if it is or not but the whole purpose is to get your backlink indexed and nothing more.

That's irrelevant - the OP was saying to do it in order to get your commenting/profile etc.. backlinks indexed so they stand a chance of helping you.

But there are new people on the forum all the time? It shouldn't be repeated for them?

If you want to give them another reason to struggle and waste their time. Unless you're spamming tons of links this stuff doesn't even make sense because you should only spend your time getting links that are worth having - which by definition would be from sites that are already indexed and get found quickly.

This whole subject is a classic seo red herring.

I still stand by it. It's always good to have your backlinks indexed because maybe the site that you have posted to is indexed, but the page that you are linked on has not yet been found. I think it's still a good method.

Go for it - it's your time. I definitely won't be telling anyone to worry about it unless they're unemployed and literally have nothing better to do with their time.
