Default what it takes when an SEO guy tells you, "It's pretty easy to rank in that competition!"?

Hi all, I just browsed and found this word from an SEO guy , "it's pretty easy to rank for that competition!"

Yes, it's an easy competition in a matter of fact, but for easy competition what it takes to rank? is it like bookmarking, less than 10 one way links, pinging, on page, etc?

Tell me.

It's always easy if someone is selling a product or service that fixes the problem.

I dont believe such words. For getting better rank one must have to work hard if the keyword has medium competition.

TO ME, "It's pretty easy to rank in that competition!" means that all I need to do is the standard stuff and I'll easily rank in the SERPS...

By standard stuff, I MEAN:
  • The standard On-Site Optimization (2-4% keyword density, meta keys/description, <h1><h2><h3>, title, internal linking, possible EMD or EMsubD (domain/directory))
  • The standard Off-Site Optimization (all revolves around anchor text in the backlinks - some blog comments, some article submissions with anchor text, ping & meta index my sites pages & backlinks, create site rss feed and submit to aggregators, submit sitemap, maybe a few profiles, maybe a few directory submissions... You get the picture)
This to me is standard stuff I'll do for every site I create. I know I left a lot off, but I don't feel like typing anymore LOL!

TO ME, "It's pretty HARD to rank in that competition!" means that I'll need to do the same above mentioned things (plus the non-mentioned ones) MORE... Ranking for hard competition takes persistence and patience! If you lack these two virtues get out now! LOL!

CHEERS!
