Default What does google consider as related backlinks?

Lets say a blog is about acne but the blog post itself is taking about guitars. I want to leave a dofollow comment on the guitar post linking to my guitar website. Is that related enough in googles eyes?

I hear a lot about relevant links but does google see my example as relevant? And to that question what about a site that is all about guitars and their posts but not about learning guitars and your site is?

Or what really matters is that word guitar in itself is in your anchor text or website page and the word guitar appearing multiple times in the post is really what google sees as relevant and not what the overall site is about?

Google considers links from related niche as relevant backlinks. And not all of your backlnks need to be from related sources, I keep about 35% of my links from non-related sources too in order to keep it natural.

Natural is better, but a variety of links helps just as well. Search engines love relative links so these will be your gems. Keep in mind that consistency counts as well, meaning don't cram all of your backlink building process into one week, spread it out over a larger span of time.

So far as I know, backlink relevancy follows much the same rating and ranking as your page.

First, each page is treated separately, so if you have a site like "bobs thoughts" and each page is a different thought, each page is ranked separately, and the backlinks from other sites should be to specific pages, not your home page (which I would suppose has an index or general, non-specific post or information).

Second, just because a backlink page has keywords sprinkled around doesn't mean it will have high relevancy for your post. Just like with your pages, the backlink page is evaluated first on it's content. Relevant content is more than just keywords sprinkled around. The search engine spiders are smart enough to look for reasonable sentence structure and such.

(The days of embedding white text on a white background repeating the keyword a hundred times are way gone. This sort of technique will probably get the page ignored these days, if it doesn't carry some sort of penalty).

If the backlink has good relevancy for the keywords to begin with, then it will be a good backlink for your site/page. If it just has a few keywords, but isn't rated decently for those keywords, then it won't likely give you a good backlink. This is one of the reasons I avoid linkwheels and link farms. The ones I've run across had so little applicable content, I didn't expect them to provide any useful benefit.

If you have a site on guitar and if you got the backlink from a guitar related site then it is pure backlink. If you have a site o guitar and you have got a backlink from a music site then it is a fair or good backlink.
