Hey gang, I've been curious about something for a while, and am just curious what everyone else is doing. I've just stared blog commenting and was told by SEO experts it is best to create a pen-name email address just in case anybody complains... ...but should that pen-name address match the blog/profile for wherever we are pointing that link to? Is this why they ask for both email & website address to compare both profiles and see if they match, and if not -- will consider it SPAM? I just want to be EXTRA careful... It seems like every comment that I get on my blogs is considered SPAM by Akismit. Literally, like 499 out of 500 comments posted on my blog goes directly to SPAM? In Many thanks! |

![]() Seriously though, I would be very cautious about taking advice from an 'SEO expert' who is obviously advising you so go and spam blog comments. But if those comments you're making on those blogs are genuine and not simply done for the link, I would use my real name and an email address from the site linked to in the URL field of the comment form. It probably doesn't matter that much, but that's what I would do. Paul

depends on what your doing if you are spamming then yes unique email address and I would not do it to your money sites... however blog commenting is the dogs danglies at getting good backlinks if done correctly. Simple thing is if you dont spam your not a spammer.... |

Good point guys, I never planned on spamming... I definitely want to do everything right! I do have one more question -- When posting a comment... If I leave a good comment, is it still cool to leave our KEYWORD for the name field instead of our name? In Many Thanks |

yes and no.... what I would do is look at what other people have done previous... if the comments left by others are what appear to be real names, then leave real names :-) Danny |

I always use the mail from the site I am promoting like for ex: examplesite.com and the email would be help@examplesite.com. I would use a pen name like steve @ "example site" (the website name and not url) Also for some comments I leave a steve only, and some steve @ "3 word key phrase I want to rank for" Since most webmasters wont allow over 3 since that looks too spamish.

Good rule of thumb...be real, don't spam, contribute to the blog, and you should be fine. Personally speaking, I really don't think blog commenting is worth the effort with regards to building links. I just don't think those links have much value. I would not be surprised if at some point, Google discounts any value of links from blog comments. They are fully aware of all the comment spam and I'm sure they are taking it into consideration with regards to their algorithm. JMHO

But if I'm not mistaken, I believe I heard it from none other than Matt Cutts himself...Mr. Google god...that comment links are becoming less valued. ...I'm just sayin'
