If you have more than 10% CTR, the site is optimized for adsense. If you are using wordpress try themes like BlueSene, ProSense, etc

Just think as a person who visit your website, you will understand ads on which places will tend you to click.

Also search on google for adsense optimized wordpress themes, there also you will get some idea.

10 to 20% is good optimisation but some niches will never get more than 5%. So don't worry about it too much if you can't get it up to 10% or more.

Place a large block at the top of your article and a small rectangle at the bottom , then a skyscraper in the sidebar

Always make sure there are enough ads for a niche , if not just use the large block and choose more wisely next time

Adsense gets good CTR if you would place them between the content using text link. I have got good CTR from single text link i have placed in my website.

They have over 2300 Offers, Weekly PayPal Payments and Free Training Articles.

You need to split test Adsense locations and themes. It is just a matter of test test test.

Do not try to make it look like part of the content or your adsense account will go the way of dinosaurs and dodo's

For some niche I get even 20% and for some niche I cant go beyond 6%. As Thompson said, it depends on your niche too.
You have to test CTR for different placements and optimize it for a best possible CTR. Only your own testing will help at the end.

Depends on the niche and the type of traffic

* How optimise adsense
Section targeting, competitive ad filtering, using keywords related to the ads you want, testing different layouts and comparing them using channels, using a unique ad unit for each page on your site, reducing social traffic, etc.

Depends on the content. If your content is well written valuable information you'll want your ads mid way though it. If its crap content, you'll want your ads at the start.

Hi Nedseo ,
you can place one at the top, one at the bottom and one at the left sidebar. I'm doing the same thing with all my sites and they are converting quite well

You should also filter out dirty ads.
What I mean by this is remove all ads from your site that aren't relevant to your niche.
You can do this by entering the competitive ad filter in the adsense setup category, then simply copy and paste the URL's of the ads you don't like into the box below.
Hit save afterwards and you will see those ads disappear from your site.
I did this and removed like 8-9 dirty ads, made my adsense look much more professional.
