I recently saw a website and i got confused looking at the internal link building of that site.. The case is that the X page on the site has an anchor text (keyword) pointing to Y page of the site..When i visited the Y page the same anchor text was directing on the home page of the same site..Is it fine??..I am totally confused..Please let me know if this is right or wrong!! |

it would probably be better to use different anchor texts to link between each page

Don't over think this too much. From the homepage you need only a sitemap or a link to all of the other main categories on your website. Use anchor links to link to the specific categories. From the categories use anchor texts to link to the individual posts in each category. The category links could stay in tact throughout the website via your sidebar or footer. But you should have a link back to your homepage on EVERY page. |

The important thing is not that google can read yoru site, because it can with your sitemap. The important here is that your READER can go through your page without obstacle and you need to offer them what they are looking for before they just go away! =)

If page X is about blue widgets, then the link from home page to page X would have the anchor text Blue Widgets. On page X, after talking about blue widgets, if you mention at the end that you also make red widgets, then a link with anchor text Red Widgets would link to page Y which is all about Red Widgets. On page Y, if you mention that you are a quality widget manufacturer, then you would link to the Home Page with the anchor text Widgets or Widget Manufacturer. The key is to have the correct anchor text that is representative of the object of discussion on a page. On the contrary, if you have a link called Red Widgets on the home page and you link it to a page on say Reproductive System in frogs, then you are misleading the search engines because your anchor text has no relation whatsoever to the page you are leading them to. I explain it to you in detail how the internal linking was done on the seo site suppose the website is mysite dotcom a page mysite dotcom/seo-services has anchor text "internet marketing services" which is pointing to a page mysite dotcom/internet-marketing-services Now on mysite dotcom/internet-marketing-services page the anchor text "internet marketing services" is pointing to the home page of the site..i.e. mysite dotcom The point is that how can one anchor text point to two different pages.. Sorry for confusion!!

Hey Manish The site is trying to get prominence for the term internet marketing as they are using it as the preferred anchor text. I am assuming that their home page focuses on internet marketing services and they have an inner page also on internet marketing services. It is their call and they have structured it that way. As long as the intent of the anchor text is relevant to the content it is pointing to, that is what matters. Best Raviv |

Internal linking is very imporatnt. I will give you an example for it. If your page rank is 3 of main page. So you can attach many of links to mail page. So other page get benefits of pr of main page. |

I read that the internal link building should be consistent throughout the site..And this is a better idea..you don't want to confuse the bot..
