Hey Guys, I really don't know why I'm sharing this, I think it is because I just love seeing how many "thanks" I can get in a given post. We all know that if you pick up an aged domain with backlinks there is potential for you to place yourself in a VERY GOOD position in the eyes of the big G. Your trust factor is much higher then it would be with a new domain, you can load more backlinks to it and be indexed faster. The title to this post is true. Someone let a 10,000 monthly searched keyword of 15 years leave their hands, and I snatched it up, and started earning on it two weeks later... Here is something I do once in a while: I pull the FTP feed from tdnam.com (also known as Godaddy Auctions), in the auctions there are 'closeouts' and $5 buy now options. I specifically pull those domains. I will analyze them within my Internet Marketing tools, preferably Market Samurai and see the backlinks, PR, and Age. I look at the keywords and see which have search. I spend some money. ------------------------------------- How can you do it. Go here: ftp://ftp.godaddy.com/ and enjoy the thousands and thousands of possibilities... |

I thought I would let you know that on the home page of the forum it only says "how to grab a 15 year old..."!!! Just as well you are a well known member lol |

That's great. But how long did you have to search for this and how much money did you waste on crap domains, until you hit a home run?

hp, Well, the time wasn't really a factor, you can pull an excel spreadsheet and sort it by the age, take those domains and drop them into MS to pull all other information. I gave it to my VA's to run 65,000, 120 searchs approximately at 500 a pop. Cost me a little under $50 to get through the 65,000, I pulled out 100 domains, 30 that are going to be gold. 70 which will be used for SEO purposes. The monetary gain all depends on your experience and knowing what to do with the power. |

I'm trying to login and it just says '510 login authentication failed'. Any idea why that's happening? |

LMC, thanks for this info, as usual your posts always get me thinking.... Have you been slacking off - You've only had 520+ sites for quite a while now. (of course the + could be +1520 more )

Rough Outline, hmmm... do you have a godaddy account. Try to log in, I don't know what type of security they have on the access. |

Hey Steve, great post as always, just wanted to know, can we get one of this domains and somehow link it to another one we have so that is passes some of its value and juice to our other sites? Would that work? Thanks |

Also, if your purchasing an aged domain name with PR, make sure the PR is valid and not fake. PR can easily be faked by doing a 301/302 redirect to a domain that has a higher PR. Here's an example: yourmarketingengine.com is being sold at godaddy auctions. My PR toolbar states the website has a PR of 2. However, when you type info:yourmarketingengine.com into google it shows a different website. It's being redirected to Barbarastafford.com which has a PR of 2. |

Efrain... great point. Nbeat, yes you can snatch up an aged name with backlinks, and if everything is valid some of that juice will come to your site. |

I'm getting "authentication failed" with my valid GoDaddy login/pass as well. Hmm. Is that the right URL? Is it supposed to be an RSS feed? |

| I also see this as a great opportunity to pick up local domain names as well as special interest ones that could be flipped quickly for a nice profit. You never know what you'll come across when browsing through these aged domains at auction, and some could have really great potential for flipping.

I've always thought that article directory owners are in a good position to grab expired domains. A lot of article marketers disappear and let their domains go, some of them prolific writers with a lot of backlinks to their domains. I was just checking broken links on one of my directories and thought I'd found a PR3 keyword domain with over 700 backlinks and was anticipating what I could do with it. Just missed it by a day, it had expired on the 22nd and been renewed yesterday. If you have a wordpress blog and have used article directory content try running the broken link checker plugin. At the least you can clear out broken links but you might find a good expired domain. |

I see a great opportunity for someone to make a tool that automates this. I love aged domains but, like an idiot, I always search through them manually which is very time consuming to say the least. Thanks for sharing and making me think! Lee |

What info would you want to check in a system that could scan godaddy auctions? I guess PR and backlink count for both the www and non www versions? Would you want to search by keyword? Maybe I can write it! |

It's my no.1 procrastination hobby searching for awesome closeout domains... It is so addictive - if only I had as much time to work on them after. LOL! GREAT SHARE! |
