You do not need to use any specific language sites to rank Italian or any other types of pages.

If you absolutely need it anyways......
just try searching "site:.it" + blog or whatever platform you are trying to capture

And also i have heard that if your site's link is coming through local directories and local sites then it would have good effect in search engine.

I am targeting my site for Italy so.

Just make sure your site is targeting Italy as the country in webmaster tools, other than that there is no need to target geo back links, just make sure you get quality back links as part of your SEO campaign and don't just spam.
