How do gurus get their traffic?

It all depends. I think if your talking about those IM gurus who generate buzz throughout the IM community then your probably talking about list traffic and very little SEO. They probably use some ppc and and other purchased traffic, but there is like a built in system that they work very well with. They can get their message out to every internet marketer and they don't need to pay too much because you can reach every internet marketer for free

On the other hand, if you're asking about how webmasters generate traffic in other niches than your going to want to use SEO, PPC, or purchased traffic. The majority of niche websites recieve traffic from search engines, so SEO is important, but many niches don't have too much search traffic, they purchase their traffic through banner ads on high traffic sites.

The majority of the so called guru's use jv to get traffic, with back links to their site. Making them look good.

Warrior guru's sorry specialist are people who are knowledgeable in their field and should be treated with necessary respect.

These are the real gurus.

This forum can turn a newbie into a guru in less than 7 days. Just take a run of the mill site, and this forum promotes the site to mailling lists.

In probably 2 to 3 days, a guru is born. Making money like water, pushing all the products that can be found. Ranking on se automatically.

Not long ago he created a service that can do the SEO for anyone.
I tried it with my engineering website. Within 3 weeks I was on first page of every searchengine (In my field)

Expanding on Aboutalhah's comment...Gurus recruit affiliates who send them traffic which in turn builds their lists. All they have to do is email their lists for instant traffic. It's the affiliates who do all the work.

Are those from rss feeds somewhere or you ahve your own news company or photographer to get these pictures so do not have to deal with copyrights and legal matters.

Many gurus use their affiliates to generate traffic. Basically, they would offer a large commission to their affiliates e.g. 75%+. They do not expect to make much or any money from their frontend product. Most of the money is made at the backend where they will try to sell the customer other products (either their own or affiliates). Besides cross-sell, there would also be upsells and downsells as well. Eventually, they hope to suck the customer into a sales funnel where products of increasing prices are promoted to them.

I've been researching Guru's and successful people for over 10 years and I'm just now starting to see a pattern that I should have seen a long time ago. I'd like to share it with everyone because this applies to IM and many other industries and it's so obvious but you will never or rarely hear anyone talk about it.

The short version.

Wealthy gurus(for lack of a better word) are usually experts on networking & making alliances & contacts & friends in the industry they are involved in. The industry they are involved in is incidental. I've never met an ultra successful person who did it solo without leveraging his/her time, talent, and money, etc. This is #1 and it is huge.

(PS- leveraging is a whole other awesome topic.)

Also, some version of the 80/20 rule. Tim Ferris has an awesome book out. One of the many things he explains is the 80/20 rule that every Guru knows but few will ever admit. I suspected this pattern many years ago and many other people did too. Roughly 80% of a person's money,success,relationships,"insert positive goal here" is made with only 20% of their effort. This is also huge.

I have to agree. It seems to me most gurus get their traffic largely from Joint Ventures and affiliates. That is definitely their central method. They might use 1 or 2 other methods as well, but networking and JV looks like the key here. To get to that level you really have to build that list up.

They mainly use their list, money, affiliates, and joint ventures to generate their traffic. Think about the typical process when you get hit with the next big launch coming out..........

1. They develop a product.
2. Ask their friends to promote it through an affiliate program.
3. Email their list, building anticipation
4. Launch the product
5. Recruit customers as affiliates to promote it.

It's a slamdunk!

It's all about new product launches--their own! Suppose they launch a new product and 2,000 sales are generated the first week. Let's say their sales page converts at 3%. That means they must have had 60,000 visitors to their sales page. If they have a 20% opt-in rate to their pop-up ad for their newsletter of mini-course--that's about 12,000 names they get added to their list. A list that size will make you over 100k per year. And, that's the list they might grow in a week. A lot of top-selling CB products sell over 10,000 units!

Gurus are good affiliate marketers, but the need to keep developing new products to keep their list up.

Hi, also ways to get traffic - write a strong pillar article. Joe Vitale got a lot of hype for this book Zero Limit by writing an article about the famous dr. Hew Len, and posted it on his website. From there it became one of the most reposted articles on the web, it's still getting copied.

Write a great article and a larger blog might pick it up. Also twitter helps you get traffic. You'd be surprised at all the other methods, you just got to be dedicated and promote yourself everyday.

I am convinced that most "gurus" are a bunch of hoaxes. They make money by selling to YOU, the guys actually trying to build sites. Ask one of these gurus how many of their own sites they have built in a particular niche and made succesful. The answer is most likely ZERO. If they were actually making money off their own sites, they wouldn't be so desperate to try and sell you their techniques. Think about it.

The way a Guru PROVES themselves time and time again is thru quality content. Like Aaron Wall's 5000+ page blog jam packed with goodies, a guy starts off building a name for himself by always releasing great info.

At first yeah you spend what you don't have on PPC with a bit of faith and a good book on PPC.

At first, you try and rank for some low hanging fruit. Some easy ones.

At first, you press release and get the word out there...

Then slowly, you lean more on JV's and your list. You lean more on building more content and teaching your list to promote you themselves.

They pay for it -- in time spent developing strong relationships (JVs) and in PPC, CPA, ect.

Also in some cases they have a network of relevant websites. For example, if your main website is about weight loss, they will have small niche websites to link to or promote the money making website.

You certainly get one way backlinks, and the traffic from the small sites also head over to the big one to learn more.
