Hi all,

Does anyone know how Google and some of the other major Search Engines compute Page Rank for a web page. Please show the formulae, and also show an example of how Page Rank is computed.

There are very few people who know the exact formula and it would probably stretch to a few pages...

I have read that there are up to 100 or more factors that google uses to rank a web page and that even within google no one person, except for maybe the founders, know all of those factors.

I used to really worry over PR when it was first implemented, but could care less now. I once had a PR6 home page, it is now PR5, and most of my 1st level pages were PR5's and they are now PR4's and 3's.

You know what, my traffic is still higher today than it was when we had the higher PR by about 10K per month and my rankings in the SERPs are just as high, if not higher.

PageRank is a time consuming waste of energy and thought processes.

First off, as noted in the New York Times there are 200 signals to the ranking algo. Secondly, PR's under a major shift anyway.. focus on quality content as Google suggests. I truly believe that.
