Probably because they cant get their ads approved by Google due to their recentish stricter rules.

Or maybe because its cool to say everything is dead

Nevertheless, PPC is far from dead.

Don't think the big G would second that:-

"Sales for the Mountain View, Calif., company rose 23% to $7.3 billion. Excluding advertising sales that Google shares with partners, a figure also known as "traffic acquisition costs," the company reported revenue of $5.5 billion, which topped analysts' forecasts of $5.3 billion."

PPC died along time ago....

If you are willing to pay $1+ per click then go for it... Its mostly large companies spending millions of dollars to boost their comscore rank...

No, that's probably not a good idea at all, and will most likely get you banned (if using Google Adwords - not too sure about the other PPC networks as I've never used them).

What needs to be done when promoting affiliate products with Google PPC is to construct landing/preselling pages that you'd link to in your PPC ad. If you build them the right way and are in compliance with Google's guidelines, then you can definitely still promote affiliate offers with Google PPC.

You don't have to pay much for PPC at all, I put a video on youtube about using 7 search you can see it here I also show you how to build in a call to action...

In fact it's step x step video showing you how to do it cheaply it does work though, it is knowing when to pull your ad...

Example, if I ran an ad and it a made asome sales then, chances are it will continue getting clicks but, they may not convert after the initial sales...

This is why you hear folks getting cleaned out with PPC campaings especially, if you don't keep a close eye on them...

James: very good for list building and often 10 cents a click or less...

Also, people tend to focus too much just on Google Adwords, when there are other PPC networks out there that are cheaper and will also get the job done for you. Some people tend to have an almost unhealthy obsession with Google...lol

Dylan, I have to agree that the demographic targeting on Facebook is pretty awesome, and what's even more amazing is that it's a pretty accessible ad platform that doesn't require you to have thousands of dollars to start.

The problem with 2nd tier PPC is that they have low traffic or are terrible at conversion. The worst ones steal your money.

Miva, MSN & Yahoo are charging high yet I not happy with their measly results.

Google PPC is the real game in town and as a source of traffic, it seems to be "dead" in a sense that its not as it used to be.

The purpose of paying for traffic is to NOT do SEO and all these hard work.

Its either

hard work vs money

If you wanted hard work in the past, you build backlinks, seo your way to the search engines.

If you wanted no hard work, you buy adwords traffic.

But that changed.

It now seems that Adwords is just as hard if not harder than doing SEO.

So the old idea of paying for traffic is dead.

Today, if you just want to pay for traffic and work nada except conversion tracking, you'd have to do PPV, media buys, placements.

PPC as in Google Adwords is dead.

They destroyed my livelihood. And they don't want more of my money. So, that's why I'm here.

PPC is very much alive for me. Adwords, Yahoo, Facebook and a stack of smaller networks can make you a good return if you have the time and patience to manage them properly.

A good ad copy and a fully researched kewyword list are key. Also for affiliates, the presale page can work, but not always.

People seem to like saying SEO and PPC are dead but they are certainly not. I recently ran a small Google Adwords campaign for a copywriter and targeted long tail keywords with low costs per click.

So far they have spent less than £50 on clicks and generated close to £1000 worth of new business, so it can work very well still for some sectors.

Paul said it earlier...

Google isn't the be all and end all of paid advertising...just sayin'.

Facebook Ad's...
Bing/Yahoo...
7search...
Stumbleupon (not technically ppc, but still paid ad's)
ebay classified (yes, classified! you can pay for ad's there)
other classified sites
Google...
And a crap ton of others...

PPC is very far from being dead. Why isn't it? Pay per Click is one of the fundamental online marketing principles. The average Google and Facebook CPC keeps growing, which means - more advertisers join the competition.

Absolutely agree. There are plenty of alternative PPC networks. Miva, abc, 7s, etc... Qualibid is just the perfect example of a PPC network that offers its advertisers the most profitable quality / cost ratio along with other significant benefits:

- High traffic quality
- Advanced tools and settings
- CPC up to 20 times lower compared to Google
- Free and personalized phone, chat support
- Yes you can use affiliate links, advertise adult and gambling

But most important: If you are not happy with a single 1 cent click, write a ticket. Every case is being carefuly investigated, and whatever was charged for low quality clicks returnes to your wallet.

Most 2 tier PPC networks have totaly different rules. You can use affiliate links, advertise adult, pharma, gambling. No slap, no long verification, etc.

You are really a piece of work my man. I wish you would just communicate. You really did your loyal customers wrong with that droidgenerator WSO. Now you have this new wpandroid and can't even email your loyal customer's who was left in the wind without a goodbye or heads up that you was no longer supporting your product. I'm tripping that you are still on this forum like everything is okay. You need to make things right. KARMA is real!!!

PPC isn't dead at all! There are simply no major players anymore. Only a bunch of privately owned PPC's ready to give you a click for a penny!

Their there, just not making the kind of revenues they use to after the hype died down some 3 or 4 years ago.

Take care,

Oh my God how many times do we have to hear that PPC is dead!! Go and type anything into a search engine & see if an advert appears.

if bids are too much for you then your product aint suitable for PPC or you simply haven't got a clue how to optimize a campaign or a website to get a good conversion rate. Here's an idea - before you start advertising on PPC how about finding out what your break even point is, what kind of ROI you want to achieve and then use a bidding strategy then will meet those requirements.

PPC is far from dead. The day it dies Google dies with it. There is currently no better form of paid advertising for getting qualified traffic to your site.

PPC is no more dead than micro-niche website creation. Sure you have to dig a little harder to find a profitable sliver of the market but its still very profitable.

The only ones saying PPC is dead are the fear-mongers and the people who don't test or optimize their campaigns.

I made a lot of facebook ads campaigns targeting fans of several celebrities in asia. The clicks where supercheap, but I didn't think of the 1800 leads I got from 9000 clicks and 1500$ where actually quite broke. The product I promoted was a 500$ product, and I only got 7-8 sales :/

This post is dead.

Dead on with a great question that is.

PPC is not dead. Google PPC is in my opinion dieing though.

Think about where your eyes go when you use the search engines. If you are like most you have been trained not to look at the ads because the organic content has what you need.

However, consider FaceBook PPC as it is an up and coming entity to be recommend with just as FaceBook itself is no matter how much I might not like it.
