Anyone still using this strategy. Creating a static website and putting a blog in the subdomain. Each time you add a article or page to static website blog about it (maybe announcement or summary) and link back to that new static page with your blog post. Is there any benefits to doing this if you enjoy building static html websites and is there any adverse affects to doing this? thanks, |

This is a little outdated, but it will not harm your ranking in anyway, if your site belongs to a similar niche as your blog.

| mki No I do not plan on linking the static website to the blog in the subdomain. please not the blog is within the website in a subdomain not part of another website. flower16 When you say outdated does this mean that it no longer works or maybe do not use this strategy anymore? Personally I would not care if people stop doing it or how old the strategy is as long as the strategy still has some benefits to using it. |

Then I don't really see how there could be any adverse effects, as long as the content on the blog is unique it should only help.

| Craig McPherson Thanks for you reply Craig. So is it the blog or the static site that it getting the traffic? My main purpose of the blog is to help the static website ranking higher in the search engines. scott g So yours is just the opposite with your main website being the blog and a regular static website within the subdomain? hmmm |

That is correct. I, personally, am better with writing/ripping/editing HTML/CSS script than I am with PHP. I got a good TLD - So I popped WP on it and ripped and edited a them to my likings and simply post articles on it. The subdomains are completely optimized for search engines and are Static HTML pages. Like I said it's easier for me to get my hands into the code to optimize every aspect of it. Haven't had anything but positive results so far... Maybe I'll end up building up an UBER powerful TLD that uses subdomains like About.com!!! Either WAY, I prefer HTML over PHP/WP. When I used to make review/Adsense sites back in the day, they were all HTML sites too. CHEERS!

mywebsite.com/blog I called it "blog" static site talks about products and the blog has the promotion and affiliate links in it. I rank very highly for a lot of "well known marketers name - product name" and variations of this

Separating your blog in a subdomain is still a good strategy. Most of our clients still use it.
