In general, I don't see why turning them off would be a problem. I would say that a majority of blogs have turned them off, although it might just be the blogs that I read regularly. I have turned off trackbacks and pingbacks as well and haven't seen any negative issues arise from it. The only potential issue would be if people were linking to your content specifically to get the trackback link to their stuff... you will lose lose incoming links, but they are rarely of high value anyways. |
