I am presently debating on if I should throw my web site on this new exact keyword match .info domain I bought recently, or leave it on my half matched keyword domain of almost 7 years old. Would appreciate any suggestions SEO wize which you think is best? Which option carries more weight as a ranking factor? Bernard |

If it's a 7 year old domain that you've built up from scratch, I'm assuming it's already got decent ranking for the keywords in question?

There's a lot of talk that Google's love for exact keyword match domains is dying out anyway. I am with the others - stay where you are!

I'd just register the .info domain for $1 from GoDaddy, redirect it to my current, older site, and carry on using the older one. (For $1, why take the chance that someone else might register it?)

Thank you for all your replies, keeping domain wins it, but now I just found this on youtube. Listen to the end... Does all your suggestion of keeping old domain still hold? Bernard |

I would still keep the 7 year domain active ... it's just another "brownie point" towards ranking your site. I'm sure it has solid, aged backlinks. Things like that are also "brownie points". No sense in starting all over again with a new domain name (regardless of .com, .info, etc)

I confess that I don't understand too much about SEO. However concerning .info domains, Cathy LaClear an SEO expert wrote the following in an email to me: .info names are not good ones to get because google takes way longer to recognize the .info’s then the .com’s, .org, or .net. If you are going through godaddy to get the domain then you can find coupons online that will lower the price by going to: Live Godaddy Promo Codes / Coupons No Wonder GoDaddy is offering .info for such a low price! I believe that you should keep your 7-year-old domain name as your major domain and add the .info name as a related site like for example a blog, forum, online store etc. Good Luck! |

Sorry to sidetrack a little bit, but does forwarding the .info to the existing domain do anything except prevent someone else from registering it?

I'd keep the 7 you domain and redirect the .info traffic to it.
