Default Plural Domain Name

Hi, everyone. I've been searching the threads, but I haven't found my exact answer yet. So I thought I would start a thread.

I am targeting a keyword for a product that is sold on Amazon. This is not the keyword, but let's say it's "mp3 player."

Market Samurai tells me that there are plenty of searches and value in mp3 player. But there are also searches for mp3 players.....the plural form.

The singular form is more valuable and has more searches, but not by a great amount. The plural form is also worth going for.

Here are my options:

mp3player.com

or

mp3players.com

I'm thinking I should go for the plural since I should rank naturally for mp3 player if I optimize for mp3 players.

Am I wrong? Will targeting the plural keyword get me ranked for singular as well, or should I just optimize for the singular which is a little more valuable?

Thanks for your help!

John

So you know I'm going for SEO traffic. I'm not sure buying both domain names would help.

To narrow this down a little more:

I definitely want to rank for the singular. It is the most important. But I'd like to bring along the plural if I can.

Will I still rank high for the singular if I optimize for the plural?

I don't know what keyword suggestion tool are you using. what i have experienced is people mostly use plural not singular.

If you register mp3players.com you will rank for mp3 players not mp3 player.

I suggest plural.

Later you can also optimize the singular. You can target as many keywords as you want.

Google Adwords Keyword tool, Market Samurai and Traffic Travis all tell me that for this product the singular form has more searches.

I'm not disagreeing that it's usually the plural that has more searches.

I do see evidence on many searches that I have done that the Google results often look the same when searching for the singular and then the plural of something. But I'm not sure exactly how it works.

I want to get the plural only if it also strongly ranks for the singular.

Buy them both, and own the market.

If the singular monetizes better, develop this one first.

Some words do hold better for non plural, like hypnotize, and hypnotizes
