If I put linkdomain:YourcompetitorURL.com site:.edu in google is this mean I can add my url or anything else? coz I don't see my competitor backlink since I put it the way you descript.

Do I do it wrong?

By doing this, you find some of the backlinks your competitor has from .edu domains and if you can comment on that page, its possible that the admin of that site approves your comment and you get a .edu backlink.

Additional ways to find sites for link building are ...

For instance , if you want to find wordpress blogs , you can use the following query ...

"keyword" "powered by wordpress"

There are lots of other techniques and I am going to update you soon.

Make also sure to share if you use any search queries other than the once mentioned above .
