Default Follow my first attempt at SEO / Google ranking

Hi all. Iv been reading alot of interesting and great posts here and thought it was time I gave it a go. Please feel free to add your comments and constructive criticism as I hope to use this as a massive learning curve.

I have decided to promote a Clickbank product in the gambling market (high competition I know) and the niche market is the "winning the lottery" market.

Research:

"how to win the lottery"
Global Searches: 40,500

"how to win the lotto"
Global Searches: 74,000

"winning the lottery"
Global Searches: 33,100

"winning the lotto"
Global Searches: 246,000

Using the above information I decided I would be better targeting the keywords "winning the lotto" - and I couldn't believe my luck when I purchased winningthelotto . co . uk from godaddy for under £10.

At the moment this is as far as I have got - I only decided to give this a try a few hours ago.

How I intend on moving forward

I Intend on basing my strategy on the amazing thread of Daniel7rusu entitled 30 Day SEO Experiment: Macbook pro EMD back on 1st page

I will be creating a site simular to his blogging to the bank site, with 5 unique posts. Once I have done this the next phase of the process will begin.. backlinks.

I think having a domain name with all the key words in there will help alot. I need to pick a decident Lottery system from clickbank with a low refund rate, and read some review on it - to base my 5 posts on. Once I have done this I will post back with my progress.

Any input is welcomed

Those are pretty competitive keywords. How about trying long-tail keywords instead?

Optimize for these keywords first and if you have ranked them on Google first page then optimize for the harder ones.

Just my two cents.

If the competition is very high then the best option will be to frame long tailed keywords. If the customer is searching for the same thing which you have put in your sites title then you will be search organically. So long tailed keywords help to get quick ranking on search engines.
