They (TF and TM) are implying that my video will rank higher if there are multiple copies on other video sites versus just one copy on say just youtube ? In other words If I upload video "xyz" to youtube will it rank lower if I dont upload the same video to multiple other video sites ? But if I then upload it to other sites, then the xyz video on youtube will then rank higher in google results under my keywords ? How would the search engines even associate the videos together ? Because of unique coding on each video site with their player, they couldnt do it by matching the video content or file name. The only thing they could match is the movie title or tags, but that seems like a weak matching scheme and wouldnt ensure the videos are related. These videos arent linked to each other in a traditional linking sense either, so I am not sure how google would even associate them as the same video. So am I confused in what they are stating ? Or is there no ranking boost and synergy and simply more chance of the video getting actual views simply because it is on more sites ? |

YouTube, like Google, is so large that the chances of your video getting seen by tens of thousands of people is relatively small unless it's so viral; and this usually means adding a bit of humor and/or controversial topics to it that tons of people pick it up. Personally, I've had huge success with Revver Video Sharing Network. But, I also don't place all of my eggs in one basket; that is, I use a variety of sites and long ago quit depending upon YouTube for traffic purposes. I still use it, don't get me wrong, but it's hardly my first choice when looking to get my video seen. | |

Ok, thanks Iowagal. I am not trying to overthink it, it is just that trafficgeyser and tubemogul implies that if you use their service and upload your video to many different sites, then that gives you a magic boost via synergy for your rankings in google. They make it appear to have the same rank boosting power of having more backlinks. Watch their promotional/instructional videos. the goal is not to get views per se but the idea here is to get ranked high in google under your keywords. I know the basics of seo and understand linking. But you are right, the movies are all independant of each other. There is no synergy boost. All the movies rank independant of each other. right ? |

That's curious about TG and TM - I haven't heard that before. I'll need to check into that - thanks for the tip. As far as I understand they do rank independent of one another. I have been trying to put the puzzle together in my head as to what benefit it would be to boost the positions of each others videos from competing video sites. I've been in SEO for a looooong time, but definitely don't claim to know everything |
