Site is mostly finished. How do I start backlinking?

I have been working on this site it seems like forever and I finally have it to where I want it using good keywords throughout all the content. Now, how do I start the backlinking to get this thing ranking quickly?

Rewrite some articles, send it to article directories and web 2.0 properties. Get some 10-20 edu/gov backlinks.

Link building is a very effective way to expose your site in the internet. If you really don't know how to do it, then all you have to do is to hire an experienced link builder to work with. For me, that is the best thing to do.

if your all on page is complete then now start link building through various off page SEO techniques. it can be directory submission, bookmarking, article submission, forum posting and blog commenting.

If you really don't know how to do it, then all you have to do is to outsource an experienced link builder to work with your site. Or if you want it yourself to do it, you can do numerous strategies such as directory submission, article submission, rss submission, social bookmarking, blog commenting, forum posting, micro-blogging and any others.

I would concentrate on article marketing first, then blog and forum commenting.

I have personally found that Social Bookmarking backlinks have zero SEO value. However, that being said, they do drive some traffic and do help in getting your content indexed.

In the mean-time go to some link exchange partners and exchange links with related or complimentary websites, but only exchange links with PR higher than yours if they are willing. If they are not, then don't worry about it, just keep doing the others.

You can guest blog as well. But might not be easy at the beginning. If you want to exchange link, you have to be careful about it. Google do not like excessive reciprocal links (I link to you and you link to me). So, in-fact avoid it as much as possible.

you can submit your link to all the free direcories and some of he paid ones.

i try and do a few of each every day the main one we all want to be in is .dmoz but its hard to get in there.

i have a directory also googlesearch ( dot )ws so you can link there

2. Comment other peoples blogs.
3. Sign up for different forums in your niche and start posting with a backlink in your signature.
4. Add your URL to the biggest search engines like Alexa, Google, Yahoo and Bing.

You can start first backlink building by forum and blog posting, article submission, social bookmarking etc. Try to put links as do follow high PR value sites.

article submission and bookmarking is one of the many ways. But if your tired doing the link building yourself you can find a lot of good services that is worth the investment.
