Default Google News submission question

I have a content site that I'm about to submit to Google News.

Unique content updated daily.
Six contributing authority authors (with an "about" and "contact" page).

But...

The site design is (deliberately) not at all conventional. It's been described as garish, even (again, this is deliberate and in keeping with the site's content). As I'm currently averaging 600 unique visitors per day (bounce rate very low too), it has not impeded the site's slow but steady growth.

I've read the technical requirements and googled around, and can find no good reason why my site's unconventional design should prevent its acceptance to Google News. But has anyone had any experience to suggest otherwise?

Any advice before I submit would be very gratefully received.

That's a hard one to answer as there is nothing in the guidelines about "garish" sites. I've seen a couple of unusual sites, but nothing over the top.

Same. I guess I'll just go ahead and submit, and see what happens!

(I see from your signature that you're a Google News authority, so I'll let you know the outcome in case it might be useful to you.)

My site was accepted a couple of weeks back. :-)

I guess most Warriors would think I'm wasting a golden opportunity as this site isn't really about making money (with the exception of one subtle but effective ad). Rather, this is a content site that is for me an absolute passion/conviction (I have plans to develop parts of it into a book), and so acceptance to Google News has been very exciting for me. My readership has trebled!
